+2.

Also, why are people actually refuting the OP's statement that he was spit on? I've seen people do worse things than spit on military personnel in uniforms around Boston before, so the idea of one crazy individual spitting on a military member isn't unreasonable...

Yup, there are crazy people out there. I'm sure plenty of people have been spit on and called a nazi for no reason without wearing a uniform, so why couldn't it happen while wearing one.

I did NROTC at UC Berkeley and used to walk around in my Middie uniform every Thursday... never had any trouble there, either.... although hippies did burn down the NROTC unit back in '81.

Frankly, I don't think any of those schools will be particularly anti-military. Everyone seems to value former military people. They may dislike don't ask don't tell or may disagree with the AUMF or something, but they won't take that out on you.

EDIT: thanks for the very respectfully... sort of miss proper Navy memo format.
The Berkeley USMC OSO's office was vandalized a couple years ago. Brick through the window or something.

Who are you calling sir?

.... why wouldn't you be commissioned?

Yeah, this. The most you will get is a mild, semi-annual email circular about JAG being asked not to interview directly on the law school campus because DADT violates some school's non-discrimination charters.

flynavyjets wrote:Hi everyone,

I'm applying to transition from being a Navy pilot to a Navy Judge Advocate. The program that I am applying through gets to choose which law school I attend out of the ones I am accepted to because the Navy will be paying the bill.

My GPA and LSAT look good enough for me to apply to some very good schools including the T14. Before I get in over my head, I was wondering if any current students from any of these schools (especially UC Berkeley, Harvard, Yale, Chicago, Columbia, and NYU) have ever seen the protesting or poor treatment of military personnel. There were times when I was an undergrad in DC wearing the uniform that I got spat on on my way to an internship or the Metro. I'd really like for that not to happen again when I return to typically-liberal academia (little did these people know that I, too, am liberal).

I appreciate any input current students or alumni might have, and I thank you in advance for your responses.

Very respectfully,
FlyNavyJets :D

You're actually taking the LSAT in Oct, right? Regardless, I don't see your military service as being anything other than an asset for getting into, and doing well in law school, in the current era.
