University of Idaho could actually be ok if you want to practice in Idaho. If you like Idaho, I would go there.

Idaho is probably the best off of that OP list, just because, like a 3 at closing time, it's still the best game in town.

It's decided. Follow in the footsteps of Larry Craig and go to University of Idaho.

I'd go to New England. I live in Boston and have visited the school a few times. It's really small, but the building is nice. Also, the few attorneys I've met from there have jobs in mid-level Boston firms. One I talked to just became partner. Also, Boston is an awesome city-I've lived here my whole life, it has just about everything. The only downside is housing is expensive.

from cheapest to most expensive it's idaho, akron, dayton, new england. so going to idaho would leave you with the least amount of debt. however these schools seem quite sketchy.. all but akron don't disclose the percentage of students with jobs with graduation time. and akron gives the value of 100% for the percentage of grads reporting their salary. i wouldn't go to any. but if you have to choose one it would be between akron (beats out dayton since they're equivalent and akron's cheaper) and idaho. New england's attrition, unemployment percentages (9months) and transfer out rate are atrocious.hellotheres wrote:New England School of Law (Boston)

Idaho can actually be a pretty great place for someone with particular interests (hunting, fishing, white supremacy, etc).

Not reading this whole thread. My vote = don't go and retake the LSAT/reapply.

Well besides the obvious retake and reapply, UD is your best option probably due to being in closer proximity to area's you could actually land a job.

Re: If you were me, which school would you choose?
These are all regional schools. If it were me, I would think of it in terms of who I would be competing against based on the law school I've chosen, and local economy. For example, Boston is very competitive, meaning that you might find it harder to compete for jobs out of NESL because it lacks the prestige of many other New England schools - and there are many prestigious schools in New England. On the other hand, Idaho has consistently made the top 10 list of states to live in for its growing economy. Going to the University of Idaho might be a good option in this case because I'm sure that you won't face the competition in Idaho as an attendee of a regional school that you might in many other US states. I also think that if it isn't the only law school in Idaho, it is probably the best one in the state. So the question should be, how do you feel about living in a state where the frigid temperature will make you feel like you're in Russia, and you will get your degree from a school located in Moscow to boot!?

Re: If you were me, which school would you choose?
Just wanted to note that a family friend attended University of Akron Law, worked for a large Akron law firm for a number of years after graduation, then left to start his own practice and now makes $500,000+ a year. Let us remember that one CAN be successful coming out of a T3 or T4 school, though that success is likely to be regional.

I don't think you should abandon law school simply because your options are less than stellar.
However, I am concerned about your feeling that you "have" to go to law school and that you have "no other options." There are always other options. The feeling you are somehow obligated is a bad reason to go to law school.

Try Suffolk, Marquette, Wayne State, Vermont, Southwestern, Howard, Gonzaga, South Carolina, Michigan State, St. Thomas. If you go TTT, those are pretty much the only universally accepted ones. The bolded ones are widely believed to be underrated.
Also, if you're dead-set on going this year, U-Miami, which is pretty much T1, is still accepting apps. Might as well go for it.
Personally, I would have to wait.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
