Bad advice to the guy who said an extra $100k is no biggie... for every $100k you take out, that's AT LEAST another $1k in student loan payments post-grad. And COA will NOT add up to $100k in Atlanta... you are talking $60k-75k at most. Georgetown is another story... DC is ridiculously high (think NYC but less housing options). COA could get you up to $100k in DC. But people, finaid only let's you take out so much. Unless you have special circumstances, like kids, you are pretty much capped to around $20k in loans for living expenses. Even at the most expensive school I got into, I was capped at $30k/year withh 2 children (and that was including childcare).
There is not enough of a disparity between Emory and Georgetown to even consider turning down Emory. The COA is also way cheaper than DC.... trust me. I live in the Baltimore area (30 min from DC). heck, Atlanta is cheaper than Baltimore.L
Little debt + low COA + top20 = higher quality of life during school and post grad. Take the money at Emory and run!
