Worst - NYU Lady didn't shake my hand, just kinda looked at me Berkeley Lady didnt like me at all and actually answered a question incorrectly about the Feb. LSAT, Cornell seemed quite hotiy toity (sp?)

Interesting - Vanderbilt lady had a very thick british accent and didnt sem to understand me at all,

Anyone know who was there from Cornell? I remember them being really friendly in 2008. It was Karla Vargas, director of financial aid (now at U of Chicago) that year. The fair was one of the reasons I decided to apply.

Back in 2008 (Boston) - I also really liked Duke, UVA, Northeastern, Washington & Lee, student rep from Harvard was nice, but I was a bit turned off with how they didn't take names.

Did not like - BC, Suffolk (both acted like they owned the place), Penn

Arizona State University - Law School Fair

Worst: U Oregon

The rep from Oregon was in terrible shape careerwise. After trying to emphasize what a great education he had from U Oregon, he went on to tell me that after graduation he could not find a job at a real law firm, but instead was forced to accept a job doing prepaid legal stuff. Then, he continued- because he hated his prepaid legal job, he has decided to start out on his own. He's only been out of law school for a year or two. I guess this doesn't make him a bad rep. He was actually quite helpful and willing to answer all my questions. Unfortunately, he did not make his school look very good.

New York LSAC Fair

Best: WUSTL (by far and away), UGA, Houston, FSU, UIUC
Worst: Florida (girl seemed bored), Miami (dismissive, despite me being an alumni), and IU-B/Wisconsin (I lump them toghether, because although I give props to both for speaking frankly about how horrid people were doing career-prospect wise, unlike everyone else, they were so frank that even if my LSAT had been better than it turned out to be, and even if my re-take is strong, I wouldn't touch either of those schools with a 10 foot pole)

I saw this and 2 of SMU's law fair reps cut out 30 minutes early for an appointment at the hotel bar!

Best: Stanford, because the guy pretty much made it sound like an academic paradise. Columbia also, mainly because, I think, the rep said she applied ED and thus loved the school unconditionally.

Worst: Northwestern. I could just tell the people tending to the booth had no interest in all the undergrads getting information from their table.

At least NU showed up to the career services fair that you attended. They were AWOL at the one that I attended.

It's also a shame that they paid no attention to undergrads. They could have easily encouraged the opportunity to take 1-2 years away from school to pursue other opportunities. Indeed, I am glad that I took 5 years b/w undergrad / graduate school and law school.

Law School Fair at UC Irvine

Best- GW (Dean Richard was there and has continued to correspond with me personally since. She also put me in touch with Dean Paddock, who responded to my initial email within a couple hours.)

Worst- BC (The representative basically called me a fool for sending in my application before taking my 2nd LSAT in December. Memorable quotes: "Anyone who doesn't put their best foot forward is suspect." "You earned a 4.0, but what does that 4.0 mean? You could have taken all cake classes." Thanks for the vote of confidence. I felt belittled and antagonized. I found myself seeking to justify my 4.0 in undergrad at a good public university and 2 Master's degrees, instead of finding out useful information about the school. My experience definitely soured my impression of the school.)

Chicago Forum

Best: Columbia, American, Stanford, Yale (super nice, professional, and very knowledgable about their programs)

Worst: Harvard and Univ of Texas

I asked the rep from Harvard what they look for in a diversity statement if a person doesn't fit the typical URM diversity box. She looked me up and down (I was wearing slacks, a red jacket, and a strand of $40 pearls that I picked up in the Philippines) and said, "Lately, Harvard has really been looking for income diversity, but judging from the pearls you're wearing, I don't think you'd qualify." I was so shocked, my mouth gapped open and I walked away. Of course, what I wish I could have responded was, "Well thanks for the input! Next time I have an appointment with your office, I'll be sure to not shower for a week and wear dirty jeans to look the part."

It took me 10 minutes to reach the front of the line for the UT table because their rep was shamelessly flirting with every guy who walked up to the table. Once I got to the front, she couldn't even answer my question about their joint JD/LLM program with Univ of Glasgow. She didn't even know the program existed. After said encounter, I decided not to apply to UT even though I grew up in Texas. Thanks for wasting 10 minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

Best- Santa Clara, University of San Diego, Michigan State (She was incredible enthusiastic an knowledgeable.) Brooklyn Law, Notre Dame, UGA
Worst-NYU, Howard, Georgia State (However, I suspect that this was because we were in Atlanta & that table was flooded with people. They were really nice at the Open House.)
