Ha, and you're complaining about my english writing! First dude, why do you assume you're the only person in the world who is writing from an ipod or whatever? Second, It's sad how much you not only analyze my content but the accttuall speeling annd graammor. Third, unlike you the TLS forum is not the most important thing to me in my life that I feel I have to be so careful about what I'm writing. Go to hell you dumbass troll with no life!!!rman1201 wrote:Analysis?lawfreak wrote:I also must admit that I'm flattered as to how much analyzation goes into my posts. Thanks guys for taking such an interest in my issues! I mean that seriously.
Oh, and I'm just wondering according to you guys who thought I just made all that up - what would I gain by making up this info to a bunch of anonymous users? I'm a bit surprised that none of you even thought to give me the benefit of the doubt and assume that I accidently posted it in the wrong thread. How stupid do you really think I am (despite my low LSAT score of course)!?
I hate to be 'that guy', but if you haven't mastered basic English you're going to have a hard time as a lawyer.

I want to point out to everyone that the poll is making my decision process more complex as the days go by lol. Rutgers/Cardozo are pretty much tied for first place and Brooklyn/Hofstra (25k it turned out to be, although I was originally speculating 20k) are tied for 2nd.
I guess it comes down to Cardozo and Rutgers, but at this point I'm leaning towards Cardozo because of it's better rank and location (I'm from NY).

No, haven't visited. For me, although I would like to visit the schools, checking out the place is the last thing I'm worried about. As long as I know they are in a good location like Manhattan, and I could see pics of the basic building online, it's good enough. Location is the biggest factor in terms of checking out. That is one of the reasons why Rutgers and Hofstra have a disadvantage in my book, because of their sucky locations.

And that's saying something!
I mean, unless you enjoy parking lots and the Nassau Coliseum.

Re: Cardozo vs Brooklyn vs Rutgers-Newark vs Hofstra(with 20K)?
Can you live with your family and commute to Hofstra? If so, between the scholly and having no living expenses, your total debt might be as little as 65K.
You'd be left with a Tier 2 degree in a tough hiring environment, but it sounds like you're willing to take that plunge so there's no sense discussing it.
If the employment picture gets better down the road, you might do OK with a Hofstra JD if you're smart and lucky. But be aware that you'll have a tough road at the beginning and the traditional Biglaw path aint happening.

I wouldn't compare Cardozo to a typical tier 2 school, especially since last usnews ranking it was in tier 1, and seems to have way better job prospects than hofstra. That is not to say that Hofstra is not worth the scholarship though which is why I'm having a tough time deciding. You'd be left with a Tier 2 degree in a tough hiring environment, but it sounds like you're willing to take that plunge so there's no sense discussing it.

T1 is 1-50, and Cardozo was 52 last year. That makes it T2.lawfreak wrote:

I believe he was referring to the 2010 US News Rankings, in which Cardozo was 49.ilovesf wrote:T1 is 1-50, and Cardozo was 52 last year. That makes it T2.lawfreak wrote:

With a JD from ANY of those schools you are going to be scuffling for legal work after graduation unless you are at the very top of the class, which you canNOT count on. You might as well scuffle with 75K less debt.lawfreak wrote:

Those are the current rankings (aka the 2011 rankings. March 15th is when next year's 2012 rankings are released)ilovesf wrote:Um.. is this not what you are talking about? http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandr ... ngs/page+3rman1201 wrote:

No you asshole, why don't you check out the rankings on this site and tell me why I should believe that you have a reading comprehension level above 2nd grade! Notice where it has the 2010 rankings, yes this year is 2011 which in big boy terms means that last year was 2010. Very good, can we have a round of applause? Anyway, in 2010 it was ranked 49.ilovesf wrote:T1 is 1-50, and Cardozo was 52 last year. That makes it T2.lawfreak wrote:

Seeing as the next one comes out in less than 10 days, I was already thinking of the current rankings as the last one.. It was an honest mistake, but talk about an overreaction.. geez.lawfreak wrote:No you asshole, why don't you check out the rankings on this site and tell me why I should believe that you have a reading comprehension level above 2nd grade! Cardozo should be bulldozed and made into a cafeteria for NYU.
