Re: How hard is it gonna be?
UPDATE:
I finished my first year at CUNY. It was ok. Not a huge fan of the school. Lots of extremists. No one is chilled out. If you're not willing to "occupy" Wall Street, you're a conservative bigot! Possibly considering transferring, but we'll see how my spring grades are.
This summer, I will be working as an intern at an in-house legal department at a publicly traded company.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Taking questions.

Thanks brother. I see that you are of the opinion that McGeorge dominates. Should I go there (assuming I'm, of course)?JamesChapman23 wrote:You're a cool bro, scrowell. Respect man

Mr. Pancakes: We don't rank. We're too liberal and full of ourselves do that. The chicks were not bad. Hit up LIC and introduce yourself to some of the ladies if you're in the area.
Love the name BTW. I think I'm going to eat some pancakes right now because of your name.
Br3v: Not that hard. Similar to undergrad in terms of HW. Just a lot of bullshitting during class time. Just gotta memorize the important parts and you'll be fine. You only really have to do any thinking during finals/midterms. Otherwise just write down some notes.

Where do you plan on transferring and what are you doing for the summer?
Also, I'm glad you enjoy the name. I like pancakes as well.

Doing an in-house counsel internship. Not sure where I'm gonna transfer. Probs CA or MA. Wanted to go to UNM but they require you to be a NM resident in order to transfer. LAME. I don't really like NYC that much, so I just want out.Mr. Pancakes wrote:Where do you plan on transferring and what are you doing for the summer?

Yeah dude, too many people, too little space, too many intense people, too hot and humid, too cold and snowy, too dirty. The list could go on and on.Mr. Pancakes wrote:I feel ya, bruh. I'm not a fan on NYC either. Too congested.

Still not sure I buy this. You're going to have to screenshot and blur an administration email to your CUNY email address or something

TMC: No mandatory curve, but there's a suggested B- curve for all core classes (Crim, Con law, Torts, Contracts, etc.). My GPA is 2.95. Still don't have spring grades though. I can provide any evidence you want to show that I'm real, but just explain to me what you don't believe about my posts, and why you don't believe it.
tedalbany: I'm not a flame, but I appreciate the compliment.
EDIT: would I really be offering up advice in this thread: http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 7&t=172935 if I didn't got to CUNY? That'd be f-ed up, no?

Thanks for backing me dudes.
I can assure everyone that I am not a flame. I just want to show people that you don't have to be a gunner that takes everything too seriously in order to make law school work for you.

This conception strikes TLS users with anger because your mindset is counter to their modus operandi, which they assume creates a successful law student. That mindset they reference is not unfounded; it includes all the necessary, altruistic characteristics (they consider themselves hardworking, intelligent and actively using said quality, and most important, have dreams they intend to reach).scrowell wrote:you don't have to be a gunner that takes everything too seriously in order to make law school work for you.
Several pages worth of your comments place you outside of these criteria. Is that a "bad" thing? I usually find qualitative characteristics objective, tempting me to identify you in a derogatory manner. However, you are clearly doing something that works for you. Granted, your LS GPA isn't exactly commendable, but who am I to judge?

Re: How hard is it gonna be?
I for one believe he's real.
Scrowell, I would think CUNY would be a good fit for you, given that there's probably none of the annoying big-law gunners, and the fact that there's no ranking like you said. You might be cautious about transferring to somewhere where the above facts aren't true.
also, did you find the work as easy as you hoped it'd be?

Re: How hard is it gonna be?
Harmony: My GPA may not be perfect, but I managed to find a good summer internship. Isn't that what really matters? BTW, I'm flattered that you posted my thread given the fact that you only have 4 posts (and therefore post VERY selectively).
Wily: My undergrad was the type that ranked and had gunners. These aren't my favorite type of people, but at least they're genuine. They want top grades and jobs, and they aren't going to bullshit you about it. People at CUNY (probably about 50% of them) are secretly douches, but they'll pretend that they're only in LS to "save the world". For example, if I were to walk in to school and tell people about my job, I would be ridiculed for being "corporate". I would be shunned by many people for not helping the poor and/or "disadvantaged". I would also be mocked for not "occupying" Wall Street. However, despite this, many people at CUNY are only there to stroke their own egos and to feel good about themselves. They only take public interest jobs so that people will view them as martyrs and as self-sacrificing, "nice" people. Their ultimate goal is to knock down those of us who are "self-serving", when in fact, that's what they are because they want to be recognized as world-savers. It's a hypocrisy, and I no longer want any part of it. I'd rather be at a place with genuine people even if they are pricks (people that are obvious gunners, or at least that will admit they are self-serving) than phony "world savers". Oh, and the work wasn't too bad. Similar to undergrad.
Back to paying attention in summer school (not at CUNY).
