Consistently near 40%, not too bad. And had a lot of state clerkships.

He did all schools posting above 10% last year, which I think is a reasonable cutoff.zot1 wrote:Are you doing all schools or T13?Nebby wrote:Ty to everyone who is finding the data. I'll update OP when I'm at my PC next

On the median spreadsheets I'm always like damn do I really need to add Ohio Northern and shit, but such is TLS tradition.

Sorry for my ignorance, but if a federal clerkship immediately out of Law School as a JSP-11 has a base salary of $52,329, https://oscar.uscourts.gov/qualificatio ... y_benefits which is about the same or less than a PI attorney would make, then why do we factor federal Clerkship's into these numbers but not PI work? Shouldn't it be neither or both?

because Federal Clerks usually go to big law after. the stat is concerned with how many people can/do secure big law.luckyirish13 wrote:Sorry for my ignorance, but if a federal clerkship immediately out of Law School as a JSP-11 base salary of $52,329, https://oscar.uscourts.gov/qualificatio ... y_benefits which is about the same or less than a PI attorney would make, why do we factor federal Clerkship's into these numbers but not PI work?

Because those who have A3 clerkships either already have an offer for biglaw or could get one post-clerkship (which isn't true of PI folk).luckyirish13 wrote:Sorry for my ignorance, but if a federal clerkship immediately out of Law School as a JSP-11 base salary of $52,329, https://oscar.uscourts.gov/qualificatio ... y_benefits which is about the same or less than a PI attorney would make, why do we factor federal Clerkship's into these numbers but not PI work?

ur also likely getting the locality rate, so it's more like 60k base, likely more if ur at a bigger city. Additionally, Clerkships are very valuable, and many forego the 180k salary because it's so damn valuable. That's why 33% of this year's YLS grads are clerking instead of going biglaw, which they can all get if they want.proteinshake wrote:because Federal Clerks usually go to big law after. the stat is concerned with how many people can/do secure big law.luckyirish13 wrote:Sorry for my ignorance, but if a federal clerkship immediately out of Law School as a JSP-11 base salary of $52,329, https://oscar.uscourts.gov/qualificatio ... y_benefits which is about the same or less than a PI attorney would make, why do we factor federal Clerkship's into these numbers but not PI work?

You should start a thread in the ask a grad/law student forum.luckyirish13 wrote:This interests me, and I really should know more about it. (If this is the wrong thread to ask let me know and I'll move it, but since we're on the topic I have some questions)
It appears that a Federal Clerkship opens the door to basically any legal job you want afterwards. Proletariate says it's "so damn valuable". How exactly is it so valuable and what does it lead to? Just Biglaw? Anything else?
Also why would one take a Federal Clerkship rather than Biglaw if Biglaw is their ultimate goal?
If someone does not intend to take Biglaw, is there still a value to a federal clerkship?
A Clerkship is not covered by an LRAP right? Yale's COAP or Harvard's LIPP might cover it, but otherwise you'll be eating the cost of your student loans during the duration of your clerkship right?

Am I the only one sitting here like "great numbers!!! Hope they stay like that in 3 years after an unstable hurricane of an executive has had a few years to mangle the country's finances!!"
Is this how the class of 2009 in 2006 felt?
