Sorry been slacking, Michigan State and Wayne State just completed, but I did come across this fun little tidbit on WSU's page...
I mean technically it's true, but it just seems incredibly misleading.Wayne Law's alumni continue to outpace all other Michigan law schools, including U of M Law School, on the "Super Lawyers" list within the state of Michigan.

Slow day at work, so I've been chipping away at VA. Only three schools remain: UVA, W&M and Richmond.
Kudos to you guys completing states that have like a million law schools. It's taking me forever to do only eight!

If that's on their Wikipedia page, you should either delete it or add a comment with a source that explains Super Lawyer status may easily be obtained by asking friends to nominate you, and that this commonly happens.rahulg91 wrote:Sorry been slacking, Michigan State and Wayne State just completed, but I did come across this fun little tidbit on WSU's page...

Re: TLS Adopt-A-State (ONLY 12 LEFT UNCLAIMED!!)
Whoever claimed Minnesota hadn't finished it yet, so I did those four schools with employment, under-employment, and cost of attendance. Those were some depressing statistics. Employment for two out of the four law schools in the twin cities is less than 45%!
I found that putting the employment outcomes next to the ranking sub-headings had the rather satisfying effect of undermining those stupid specialized rankings that US News produces.

The University of St. Thomas "re-opened" its law school (which closed during the Great Depression) in 1999 and built a very expensive campus in downtown Minneapolis. I imagine they were just hopping on the gravy train back then. Hamline took over an independent law school in the 70s, but seems to be in the most trouble of the four. The whole situation is pretty unfortunate for the U of Minn and William Mitchell, both of whom have pretty solid reputations and alumni networks in the twin cities.

Looks like St. Thomas actually has a pretty nice downtown campus, especially for a TTT.sobrickay wrote:The University of St. Thomas "re-opened" its law school (which closed during the Great Depression) in 1999 and built a very expensive campus in downtown Minneapolis. William Mitchell has emailed me half a dozen times (at least) in the last month. Their TTT tactics are as aggressive as any school I've encountered this cycle.

What I never understand about that is why they're so desperate with above 75th percentile LSATs. What, do you think the LSATs outside your standard deviation from the median will somehow adjust your median more than a standard 75th percentile LSAT? A 179 does no more help to their stats than a 163.MistakenGenius wrote:That's like Creighton with me. They sent me an email at least every one or two days. My subject lines are like, Your deadline for application is May 5, Your deadline is in a few days, You have two days until your deadline, your deadline has arrived, You can still apply, Time is running out, Your May 15 deadline is here, You have only hours left, I can give you more time, You have until midnight tonight, I can only give you one more extension, and so on. They do make me feel special though. They've sent me triple the emails that Yale has (where I've already put down money).

I'm also curious as to what success these schools have at getting anyone grossly above median/75th.Tanicius wrote:What I never understand about that is why they're so desperate with above 75th percentile LSATs. I think the OP needs an update. I'm pretty sure at this point MG adopted the rest of the unwanted and have claimed his MVP title.
