Boston College
Pros:
1. People are nice; there's a good BC community
2. near/in (not really in) a nice city that still has a decent economy
3. Profs are nice
4. Football if you're into that
Cons:
1. cold winters
2. graded LRW
3. ranking has been declining
4. not in Boston proper (may be a pro for some people)
5. dining hall sucks, imo

I like how every single person says his/her classmates are "nice," "chill," and "not-gunnerish like at other schools."

Because they assume other schools are worse based on stories. Reading U of C's listserv shenanigans made me think a certain way about their institution. That, and because TaipeiMort went there.Cicero76 wrote:I know. Re: 5 PROS + 5 CONS of YOUR LAW SCHOOL
Let me break down the standard law school personalities for you. Super chill people are a small minority on one side and super pieces of gunner shit are a minority on the other. Since the majority are varying degrees of the standard tools you here about in law school, and since I've rarely known a d-bag who self-identifies as such, they see other people like them and don't think they are d-bags either, give or take depending how far along the d-bag spectrum people fall. Instead they see the gunner pieces of shit as the only bad people and think "well only the minority are like that."Cicero76 wrote:I know. Re: 5 PROS + 5 CONS of YOUR LAW SCHOOL
Pitt (2L)
Pros:
1. Classmates are generally pretty good people
2. Coming from elsewhere in PA, Pittsburgh is a good city to live in. Decent amount of stuff to do, and the school does a good job of connecting with attorneys (alumni or not) at big and small firms in the city. Good opportunities for interning or networking. Lots of stuff to do around the law building and around campus.
3. Cost. In-state tuition and decent financial aid helps, and this city is cheap to live in - I live with roommates in a good neighborhood for <$500 a month. Free bus pass with student ID takes that out of the cost equation too.
4. Job prospects are decent if you're looking to stay in-state and have decent grades. Highest-regarded law school in the city helps, and if you're looking at energy there are firms hiring. People in my class got offers from all the big firms in the city, and some in Philly and elsewhere.
5. Administration has been helpful and open to deal with issues - there was a lot of turnover a few years ago but there seems to be more consistency now - and faculty is pretty good about office hours or otherwise helping students out.
Cons:
1. Job prospects aren't what they should be, and if you're in the bottom half you'll need to hustle big or have connections. Pretty decent number of kids struck out during OCI.
2. The building is ugly. They've renovated most of the interior since they built it in the 70s but the first floor and exterior aren't very attractive.
3. Administration has only recently gotten serious about competing with scholarships and overall recruitment and marketing of the school. Reputation is known in Pittsburgh but they've coasted on that small reputation for too long. That's starting to change.
4. 3.0 curve and refusal to tell students their class rank puts students at a disadvantage when applying for jobs/clerkships.
5. Winters are pretty brutal, and city's public transportation could use some improvement.

The vinegar and pepper (usually cayenne) type? That's good. A bit too much spice for me sometimes though.

Thought about it, but decided to keep things simple. Otherwise, it would've been slotted between Missouri and South Carolina.Winston1984 wrote:No Korean?
