Re: Overheard at ASW
Two admitted students at the ASW I attended a few weeks ago, talking about the reading (Lawrence v. Texas) for a mock class:
Guy 1: "Did you do any of the readings?"
Guy 2: "Yeah, I looked over that one...Where the cops were responding to a call? And they come in and two bros are...you know..."
Guy 1: "Bro-ing it up?"
Guy 2: *laughs* "Yeah, bro-ing it up."

I know I'm late on this, but the Cornell thing is actually more insane than its come across here. Our property professor is awesome, really smart, but a bit of a spaceship. People constantly have to "pass" or say that they "read tomorrows reading" when called on and she just laughs it off. Its interesting because a lot of her scholarship is very theoretical and intelligent, but in class she's the biggest legal realist I've had in 1L (in terms of just making fun of property laws and rules that don't make sense and half-jokes about making sure not to get married).
She had no idea that kid was a visiting student. No idea.
He actually recited the facts well, he only started answering incorrectly when she asked him follow-up questions about Property concepts. Truly insane.

Sad I reached the end of this thread. Best laugh in a while. The central heating won the thread for me. Here's to more ASWs this month.

Heard on a tour:
"who in here is actually admitted"
*some people raise hands*
"Ok, just checking out my competition"

The idea that someone is shocked that people in Boulder are democrats is particularly special.CM3809 wrote:"These kids are democrats? Are they fu*king serious?"

I found that a lot a lot of people do that regardless at ASW...did he get too specific?mec896 wrote:Hooray for colleges on the opposite coast. No danger of family embarrassment. My brother, who hosted me in NYC, may or may not have had one too many beers and brought up scholarship money at an accepted students reception.

During a Q and A panel with successful alumni speaking of their post graduate life, a girl asks:
"so it sounds like most jobs are contingent upon passing the bar...?"

She might have meant passing first try, or having to pass before you can even apply for the job.misskatejd wrote:During a Q and A panel with successful alumni speaking of their post graduate life, a girl asks:

I suppose that's possible, but I could tell the alumni took it as I did, simply answering while pointing to his name tag " well you would have to if you want to have an esquire after your name" and everyone laughed. Maybe we are the simple ones haha

Why would you go to law school and not take the bar?misskatejd wrote:Tanicius wrote:She might have meant passing first try, or having to pass before you can even apply for the job.misskatejd wrote:During a Q and A panel with successful alumni speaking of their post graduate life, a girl asks:
