Don't bother applying to UT then. Use the $16 (is it now $20?) to buy a 12 pack of something nice.

I applied to 16. About 1/2 were T-14 reaches, 1/2 were T-20/T-30 type schools.

I applied to 9 of the t14. And not the 9 you think.

Wasn't really sure how well my softs would play so I blanketed the bottom half of the t14 and most of the 15-25 schools, then added some safeties based on geographic preference and fee waivers.

16. It is WAY too many. If I were to do it again, I would do 7-8 at the very most.

16 for me as well. For a $25 investment, why not?

I applied to 10. Only paid app fees at 3. 2 cycles ago the LSAC fee was only like 12 dollars. Surprised its so high now.

9, selected from the t14. And $25 is ridiculous. Thank god for fee waivers. There is no way that anything in the way they have processed the transcripts, etc. has changed enough to justify more than doubling the price over 2 years. That was a lot of beer + books money.

Yeah exactly, I applied to 16, but I wish I'd sent out more (when it was still early in the cycle). I don't know why the hell I didn't apply to some T-14 schools, but did to others... I keep reading these forums, watching people get into great T-14 schools around my numbers, and I'm kicking myself for not applying to XXXXXX school.BigZuck wrote:Naw dawg. Paid for 2. I like options...and comparing total costs and opportunity no matter what school. It started with 18-20...then just increased as time went by and gave myself the 'what if scenarios'...I know there will be about 3-5 offers that will be taken seriously, but they could have been 2 or 3. Options make it more interesting. - at least for me

I am applying to joint degree programs, though, so my prospects were limited to those schools that offer the program I want.

I did 17 apps but mainly because I got fee waivers. 7 were in the T14 and the rest were my home state schools and some randoms.

HYS + Chicago + Penn & UVA.
You may ask why no Columbia or NYU. With my numbers, I figured I have a decent shot at Ruby but Hamilton is out of reach, so I saw little point in applying to Columbia when COA at HYS with financial aid works out cheaper for me than Columbia (or NYU) with 1/2 off for tuition. Plus, Columbia refused to provide a fee waiver. On the other hand, I did receive fee waivers from Penn & UVA, so I threw those in for good measure.

Re: How many schools do TLS members apply to?
i applied to like 20, but in heinsight this was too much. thought for some reason my decisions would not correlate well w what lsn suggested. i was wrong. if lsn suggests a school is a safety, it is. no reason to apply to ten more easier to get into schools just in case.
that said, apply to all schools you could ever imagine getting accepted to. apps are down and also you just never know. for example, i knew id get into my school now (mid-T14), but i never thought i would be able to negotiate my scholarship with them using offers from higher-ranked schools.
a caveat to that, there is a point where it becomes wasteful. for example, schools like upenn and uva, regretfully, are pretty robotic in their admissions process. so dont apply to them without a 167+ or a 3.75+

That would have been genius haha. Don't worry, it's all in good fun. I know you were just being helpful/informative to your decision making process, and I think you were. There will be people in your situation that may be thinking the same things.heythatslife wrote:Damn it, I should have made alts to make it look like people wanted to know.lawschool22 wrote:cron1834 wrote:Must have missed all of the posts clamoring for this exciting inside scoop...heythatslife wrote:6.

You never know though. One of those "extra" ones you applied to may just give you $10k+ more in scholarships that you can use to negotiate at your top choice. It might be a nice little return on the investment of your app fee if that happens.kobe1020 wrote:11. paid fee for Cornell Berkeley (2 hours before i got their fee waiver...) and UT.

Re: How many schools do TLS members apply to?
16, pretty much blanketed the T14, threw in Vandy, UCLA and USC and did one absolute guaranteed regional in case I panicked about debt and opted for the free ride. I'd say 10 is the max unless you get fee waivers. No one should spend over 1k on apps.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
