I'm not assuming that I'm guaranteed biglaw at all. I know I'm going to have to study my tiny dick off to get it.

The thing about biglaw is that I feel that in addition to the hefty 150k+ salary for the first few years, the career opportunities are much better down the road as well

I change my mind on this every single day

The "good" exit options usually involve taking a paycut to work as something like an AUSA or in-house counsel for a corporation. Those are prestigious options that not every biglaw refugee even has a crack at. The biggest money you can make starting in biglaw is probably staying on to make partner, but that's like saying the best way to make money starting from college bball is to get drafted to the NBA -- i.e. the odds are stacked way against you.

Actually, the people who make the most money in law by far are enterprising class action plaintiffs' lawyers. HUGE fees. The odds are highly against you succeeding at this too, but it's the highest potential reward and you don't even need a T14 degree.

Hahaha, I always try to talk my friends out of going to law school. Not because I hate it (I actually really enjoy it and actually think I'm going to enjoy my firm job), but I want to make sure they're serious about it.
