It's pretty damn close. Before the economy crashed WUSTL was a little bit better. I don't think either choice is clearly better.Stephanie13 wrote:Damn, I've been leaning towards WUSTL.Desert Fox wrote:SMU. Re: BP decides where you go to law school
I am hesitant to agree with this, but, to be honest, it is a bit of a toss up; I want to say Wash U is probably the better choice, but the midwest legal market was utterly decimated by the economic downturn. SMU places well in Texas but that's about it, as far as I know. If you want Texas SMU is the clear choice, but without geographic preference and all things considered, Wash U MIGHT be a better choice if you're only paying 9K more total, especially in the sense that 52K for a law degree from a semi-prestigious school should really be negligible in the long run.Desert Fox wrote:It's pretty damn close. Chicago big law firms when from 800 associates per summer to something like 250 last year. Stay away.

Human Rights law most likely with an emphasis on indigenous affairs (internationally and domestic). Would prefer west coast or D.C.IAFG wrote:what do you want to do then, and wherecLams wrote:UofA- 24K

I'm a little sick of Dallas since I've lived here all of my life but if I came back I'd love to be in Austin. Too bad I didn't get into UT! But all this talk of the midwest market in ruins has me worried.mistergoft wrote:I am hesitant to agree with this, but, to be honest, it is a bit of a toss up; I want to say Wash U is probably the better choice, but the midwest legal market was utterly decimated by the economic downturn. Re: BP decides where you go to law school
If you don't mind working in the South WUSTL is still a good choice. Definitely suffered some hits ITE, but still is fine for most of the region, name definitely helps some to. Honestly not a definite choice between the two.Stephanie13 wrote:I'm a little sick of Dallas since I've lived here all of my life but if I came back I'd love to be in Austin. UCLA 100k
UVa sticker
Want to clerk and then work in DC doing civil rights work...whether this necessitates public interest or if there's private biglaw firms that do civil rights legislation, I have no idea.

Also, if you're doing PI you should be focusing on LRAP.

Yes. Chicago firms got hit hard. Many firms only went to harvard, Uchi, NU, and Michigan for OCI. WUSTL, ND, and Illinois OCI's were bloodbaths last year. Median at NU was iffy, below at Chicago.LieutKaffee wrote:DF isn't Chicago part of the midwest?
