I think the deans probably buy a bottle of vodka and start chugging just before the rankings are released. Not that they actually care about the substance of what the rankings mean, but because they might lose their job if they go down even an insignificant amount in the rankings.

My favorite is their reaction when they drop in or out of the top 100. It's either a cause for celebration or a reason to immediately start the damage control.

The schools don't know how they fared in the peer and lawyer/judge assessment, that is a huge part of the rating. Also, each school knows its own data, but not how it compares to its peers.
