Florida Coastal School of Law, the only law school in Jacksonville, is one of 11 ABA-accredited schools in the state - an extremely high number for a state without an abundance of legal jobs. The law school has a student body of around 1,700 law students, hailing from about 46 states and 254 different colleges and universities.

History

Florida Coastal School of Law (Coastal Law) was established in 1996 and is an ABA-accredited institution with a culturally diverse student body. To ensure that all students receive the best possible legal education, Coastal Law offers a variety of hands-on learning opportunities that equip them with the necessary skills to be successful lawyers.

The National Jurist magazine has consistently recognized Coastal Law for its outstanding practical training. 100% of their students participate in pro bono legal work before graduation – a rate far higher than the national average of 65%. This commitment to experiential learning is exemplified by their students’ total of over 1,180,000 hours of practical training since 2007.

In addition to providing an excellent legal education, Coastal Law also has solid competitive teams, such as the Moot Court Honor Board, that have earned multiple honors at statewide, regional, and national competitions. Over the past decade, their Moot Court Honor Board has consistently ranked among the top five in the nation.
