I don't know, but it sounds like we are having pretty similar cycles. Both updated at GULC and UVA today...

The bump is significant enough that Dean Cornblatt mentioned it specifically in his TLS interview, saying that it improves your chances. Though how much is anyone's guess.

The 11/29 group was able to get a password for the admitted students site the day after, though, so maybe we'll be able to know tomorrow!

Same here. 11th for most, except for schools I wrote separate essays for, those took a few more days.

11/2, 11/12, 11/9 (interview request), 12/1 (post interview update), 12/2, 12/6.

Did anyone else submit only one LOR? I only have one right now (the other writer is being a tad on the really $#%#$#ing slow side). They only require one, will that hurt me?

From my discussions with their officers, they really enjoy hammering home the fact that 1 LOR is all they need. Thus, I don't think it will hurt you, but if there are weak spots in your application it might be helpful to have another letter to clear it up if possible. How are you doing your other apps with only one LOR may I ask?

Because I am a transfer student and also a commuter, I really have next to zero relationships with any of my profs. I had one other one lined up, and I gave him three weeks to write it. I went to go see him on the day I gave him as a deadline (November 5th) and he told me he couldn't write it because I'm still in the middle of taking his class so he doesn't have enough to say about me (really?? you couldn't tell me the day I asked??). So I had to scramble for another one. The lady that's writing one now (who I asked on November 5th) told me she would have it faxed in by the 19th of November. Still no letter. After she had me write up points to mention and more or less write the letter for her. I've been to see her twice a week for the last three weeks. I'm really at the point of just chaining myself to her desk.

I really really wanted to ED to UVA, but I feel my chances slowly draining away all because I don't have this friggin letter. Georgetown is my number one after UVA though, so hopefully I'll get in.

Yeah, with that 3.3 (I stopped to look at stats) you're going to need all the academic support you can get. Solid academic LOR's will go a far way in clearing up any questions that might be lingering on that front. Get the letter in ASAP, otherwise you're prob. leaning towards the big double-u ell.

At this point the movement has become so random it's not a sign at all. I've been left behind and caught up and pushed ahead of people with my dates so many times it's insane to think it has meaning. Just know that a flurry of dates means something is happening with your app and that after like a bunch of them you might get a letter soon.

Allow me to speculate without having any evidence to support my conclusions. To me, it seems like they probably have someone organizing and sorting the applications, that would be the first update. Then they move ahead as a group (sometimes more than one original date moves ahead together). From there, it seems like this group is often split, as if they went to two separate people, and then they exchanged. However, the updates may not be the same date, because the two people may be reviewing at different times. However, by the end, it seems like the decisions go out together-ish.

Again, 100% speculation and probably not even remotely close to accurate.

Here's another guess:

Somebody splits the apps up and sorts them. Then, they're thrown in the firey pits of hell, where they are casts in to tuition-backed securities by former day traders at Lehman Brothers (second complete date). After they are split into securities with different credit values, the federal government gets a hold of the applications through a TARP (troubled application relief program) where they assign new federal-govt. style dates to them (third date). After this, the TARP apps are repurchased by Georgetown who shorted them right before the market crash and made a killer profit (fourth date). At this point, a string of lawsuits begins over whether the ED applications were even SIGNED by the staff, leading GULC's stock to tumble 4% in 20 minutes. At this point, stock trading volume is through the roof, and applications are trading hands like crazy! (5th, 6th, 7th dates). Eventually, the stock market settles when the Dean of Admissions comes in to announce QA2 (Quantative Acceptances Two) akin to basically printing off acceptances. The tea party goes insane, and the original applicants finally find out about their pre-approved acceptance into the t14.
