Hi guys,

A little paranoid here, but I received my call (voicemail) from 607 area code, from Dean Ingram yesterday notifying me of admission to Cornell Law (and saying that I'd receive email confirmation in 24 hours), but it's been 24 hours and I haven't received any emails from Cornell - is this normal?

Yup, I got in via phone call yesterday too, and haven't yet received the email. No cause for worry yet.

Just got placed on reserve.. is it better than a WL or is it pretty much the same? I literally checked my status checker 5 minutes ago and was wondering when I'd ever hear from them lol

edit: did not get interview request, complete 11/23, UR 2 12/14, hope they at least give me a chance to interview :/

Just got rejected (first rejection too) with median LSAT and GPA. I thought I had at least a shot at an interview but I guess not. Good luck to the rest of you guys.

Held in reserve, probably withdrawing my app since I frankly already have better options than waiting til May to find out if I get to pay sticker at Cornell.

I never went under review as far as I know, 5 days ago I was still "ready for review."

I thought Cornel's "ready for review" meant the same as going UR? My dates changed twice even though it said "ready for review" at the top

For those folks who recently got the in-person interview:

I had the interview last year after being reserved in January. Looks like the email went out a week earlier this year, and they've expanded to DC (versus just NYC). Take this for what it's worth, because it seems like they have a different admission philosophy this year.

The interview was indeed with Dean Ingram, though some people interviewed with the Director/Associate Director as well. They prefaced it as an interview "because you were close to the region and we wanted an opportunity to meet you in person." It didn't seem like something they were using to admit reserve applicants early and didn't explicitly say so in the email (in fact, she said at the interview they wouldn't review the reserve list until April/May-ish, which was indeed when I got off the reserve list). The interview was awkward, I found the Dean to be very awkward and not personable (again, this is my take and my experience). I found it really awkward that she asked where else I was accepted, and that, if accepted to Cornell, would I be willing to pay full tuition because they were low on scholarship money.

Regardless, if you want to go to Cornell, you should go to the interview, give it your best shot, and not worry about anything else until you get in. Things are also likely different this year.

Also, just an observation, but those who are saying that Cornell is trying to increase their selectivity are probably correct. Class of 2019's selectivity was 24%; Class of 2018/2019's selectivity was 30% (according to the ABA 509 reports). Nonetheless, it didn't seem like there was as much waitlisting as there is this year. But, what I think this means is, basically, if you have the numbers and you persistently express interest, you'll probably get in...eventually (which, understandably, isn't ideal for most people).

Just got an online interview request! Sent in my app first week of december and have been "ready for review" since 12/14, so I was really waiting for that reserve or ding.

For the Cornell interview, do you get 30 seconds to prepare and one minute to answer for every question?
I ask because I already completed the Northwestern interview and am used to that format. When I started the practice sessions for the Cornell one, the preparation time and time you have to answer a question varies. If someone can please let me know, I'd really appreciate it.

Yes, 30 seconds to prepare but a minute and a half (90 seconds) to respond to the verbal questions. Response time for my written questions were 2.5 minutes (no preparation time). Good luck!

IDK why they didn't like me from the start, to be honest. I had the numbers, and got Waivers from every school but HYS, Penn, and Cornell. Those dang Ivies (minus Columbia, which I didn't even apply to) are apparently not picking up what I'm putting down, ya feel? 4 t14 acceptances and I was strongly considering Cornell as my go-to prior to applying anywhere

I think the often talked about 'fit' might be in play here. But given the lack of transparency, nobody could be sure about what explains your perplexing outcomes.
