Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Yes February typically has worse results than January. But the results are scaled so an MBE score of 135 in February is the same difficulty as a 135 in July. These results are terrible no matter how you look at it.Tzhs wrote:one should compare Feb 15 results against Feb 16 results. Because the July test includes a higher percentage of first time test takers, Feb 16 versus July 15 is irrelevant. Feb 16 will be worse than Feb 15, but not to the extent that looking at July 15 would indicate.stranlaw wrote:I always obsess over Illinois because they give great stats...
https://www.ilbaradmissions.org/percent ... -july-2015
Look...in July a score of 270 was the 31st percentile. February was 50th percentile. That is absolutely terrible.
February 2915 a 270 was 40th percentile. February 2015 a 270 was 46th percentile. Roughly the same...not good at all.

Even worse by my count. 40 passes out of 84 test takers--47.619%.stranlaw wrote:Only 54.7% passed. This is a bloodbath.wellington wrote:West Virginia unofficial results have posted. Managed to pass.

If you look at past Virginia February results, these results are worse than in recent years, but don't look so far out of line:stranlaw wrote:Only 54.7% passed. This is a bloodbath.wellington wrote:West Virginia unofficial results have posted. Managed to pass.

You are right I was looking at the number of seats (84) but some didn't give results. Like you said...only 78 entries. Extremely crazy. Congrats on passing, btw! I also worked full time while studying for the bar. Would not recommend.stranlaw wrote:You are right I was looking at the number of seats (84) but some didn't give results. Like you said...only 78 entries. I talked to the appellate clerks office where the bar admission office is located and asked if Fran was still planning to get them out today and they said yes...she's working on getting them up this afternoon.davidf3451 wrote:Ya. Re: Feb 2016 bar results waiting thread
Passed the IL Bar. I only took the 1 day option, so just MEE's, 1 MPT, and IL essays. Overall, I would say that I felt like I bombed the Con Law question completely, and stumbled through the POA/DNR/Torts/Wills/Clusterf*** question (still no idea what that question was about). So for those of you still waiting, good news is that you can feel like you did poorly and still pass just the same. Sorry I'm not able to provide any thoughts on the February MBE, but I will say that I just about had a panic attack during the July exam at lunch (I felt like I was guessing on every other one), and still managed to pass.
And even if you don't pass, keep on going, because you will pass. Although its easy to feel like failing the bar is a reflection on you, it's simply a bump in the road on a long and fulfilling journey. Nothing more.

Congrats on passing!! Good to know you feel like 2 essays were lousy and you still passed. That helps a lot. I bombed the LLP question...hadn't even read an outline on that topic. Ugh.

I thought watching the results of others would make me feel better while waiting for my own.
But after West Virgina's results... I think I'm just going to start studying now.
Congrats to everybody who has passed!

Apparently NC's pass rate was only like, 42% this time. I didn't believe it until I looked at the website where they posted names today. There were 770 people who sat for the bar... and only 201 names posted. There are quite a few that aren't listed because they're waiting on the MPRE, but I literally don't know how I survived. These examiners are absolutely brutal!stranlaw wrote:Only 54.7% passed. This is a bloodbath.wellington wrote:West Virginia unofficial results have posted. Managed to pass.

DUDE, what the HECK was that wills essay question??? I about had a heart attack just reading it. I still have no idea what the right answer should have looked like. It made me seriously worried about whether I would pass or not.MonsterTRM wrote:Passed the IL Bar. I only took the 1 day option, so just MEE's, 1 MPT, and IL essays. You know that question was f"in insane. I went on and on about agency...not sure if that had a damn thing to do with it...but looked online after and the person appointed for the durable power of attorney is called the person's "health care agent" and has duties to act on behalf of the principal. But I could be way off.
The thing is that the BarBri lecturer said to pray for essay questions no one knows so you are all in the same boat and the scale will be better.
