Top Law Schools

Houston/Dallas. Aside from the nature of the work, is there any reason to pick one over the other for 2L summer? I see a lot more entry level job postings for DA's offices so would it be better to have that on a resume for the future?

A full time JD required job. I'm median at a T2 so things aren't looking so great. Not too interested in working at a DA's office but like I said there seem to be more entry level jobs there than at city attorneys offices

Completely different areas of law, but frankly I think it should be easy for you to make a decision. If you want to do criminal law, work at the DA. If you don't want to do criminal law, work at the city attorney's office.

What about Public Defender? If you're not too interested in DA/PD work, then interning at a DA's office probably isn't the most effective way to utilize your summer.

There are going to be more jobs as an ADA than city attorney. And while I can't speak to those specific offices, most DA offices are very big on hiring former interns. I am sure that is mostly the case as a city atty as well, but there are much fewer spots.

Do you have the limited practice rule in TX so you could potentially get some courtroom experience? I would imagine you would get more substantive experience at the DA as well, whereas at the city attorney's office, you would probably be dealing with traffic tickets.

Reviving an old post. I would absolutely recommend interning for the DA's Office.
Each year, the DA's Office hires many recent graduates. Each fall, I often see quite a few law school graduates do an unpaid internship at the DA's Office. Eventually, they will interview with the DA's Office and get hired on.
