Hey y'all. I'm not online forum savvy so I can't make all of the fancy stuff with the pictures and the lists and the dates and the links (well, I probably could but mehhhhh), but I figured I should start this since local receptions are coming up and Open House weekend is around the corner too. . . Not to mention the Blue Devils' epic win over that other blue team this week!
Look forward to meeting everyone!

Checking in! Flight and hotel booked for the Open House, so I'm excited to check out the school and the area.

Yay, we finally have a thread! Checking in. Haven't booked my Open House stuff- going to book as soon as I get my scholarship decision (I don't want to fall in love with Duke and then find out I can't afford it, lol).

Anybody figure out where they're staying for Open House? I've stayed at the conference center in the past, which was easy because it's next to the law school. Unfortunately, it's booked for . . . a conference. Bummer.

I'm at the Hilton. They have a shuttle, so yay for not worrying about a cab/uber getting to campus.

Hey! Checking in... Thanks for making this thread... Duke is probably my top choice as of right now. I will be at the open house in March.
Anyone know where the best areas are in Durham to live? I've been checking out apartments since I was admitted, but I'm still on the fence about what area is best, or where the most law students live... Hoping that the apartment tour at the open house will clear that up

The apartment tour will help, but:

So will this. A plurality, if not majority, of 1Ls live at Pinnacle Ridge, but people are spread all over.

Checking in! And also excited for ASW in March.. I am staying at the Millennium Hotel, because apparently it is quite close to the Law School.. Anyone else planning on staying there? And that Denovo guide looks like a God-send!

It's come to my attention that I've failed you all by not posting a super cool banner in the OP. Sadly, it seems I can't post images until I hit 100 posts. So I'm gonna go try to troll some other message boards and get the banner that someone has made for us (on some other board) up.
I have brought shame upon our families! I am deeply, truly, bitterly sorry.

Do we know if there's an official admitted students facebook group? I've gotten emails inviting me to join ones for other schools, but nothing yet from Duke.

To everyone that has or will be receiving scholarship letters soon (as indicated by the status checker): Is there a way to see on the status checker that everything has been received (similar to being 'Complete' during the admissions process) or is the first sc update the one that tells you the letter has been sent? Or is an email sent indicating that your scholarship file is complete?
Thanks in advance for the help! Just don't want to be missing a component without knowing!

From what I understand, they wouldn't send any scholarship information until everything (except for FAFSA) is complete, so if your status checker is showing that your letter was sent, then I'd say they received everything that they needed to...

Both my interview and needaccess were complete two weeks ago. Still nothing under mailing in the status checker
Worth following up yet or is this pretty standard?

My decision was mailed today and I interviewed almost three weeks ago, with both needaccess and FAFSA turned in prior to the interview. I wouldn't worry yet.

There's no checklist and they don't send an email when you have everything done, but all you have to do are the scholarship interview and NeedAccess (if applying for need-based aid). During my interview, the interviewer asked me to send them an email when I had NeedAccess finished so they could go find it right away. I sent the email and got a response confirming they had my NeedAccess.

From what I understand, and I may be wrong, the scholarship committee reviews on a rolling basis on regular intervals. I think it's like every other week or something. I received my scholarship info about 3.5 weeks after interviewing. So you should probably be receiving something soon, but you may be at the point where you interviewed just after the most recent meeting.
I'd give it another week. But that's just me.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
