Wow, surprisingly low Michigan numbers. Was it like that last year too? Thought Michigan would do well in Chicago

Michigan got shut out of Kirkland Chicago last year. But, IIRC, did fairly well at other big Chicago firms. Kirkland must not like Michigan very much. Odd.

yup.
In some smaller markets though, there may be a lot of biglaw satellite offices that do 8 weeks max.

Good for the partners who work there? You'll get the same $10k first year bonus no matter what.

NALP requires that every firm provide this information by November 10, so right around then.

no idea, but for the firms I've heard of, they encourage splitting the summer 6+6 or 8+6.

Depends on the office. I worked for two firms in a secondary market , 6 weeks each (both of which offered 12 weeks). It's likely not a monetary thing. They can decide on hiring within ten weeks without having to make new projects and fill out evals (especially if they extend jobs to most of their SAs).

(Also, the pay may be lower but after taking into account the cost of living index, it's way more lucrative to be in those smaller makers. 130-140k in Atlanta, fur instance, is way way way ahead of 160 in NYC. The hard part is getting the SA and offer...)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
