Georgia bar exam

Post by peachtreeclub » Wed Oct 08, 2014 1:54 pm

I took the attorney exam in Georgia. I'm so nervous I can't concentrate on anything. Just looking to vent until results come out.

That's just the state essays/MPT, right ? I'm really nervous on the two hardest essay questions that everyone just smoked them and I just filled up 4500+ characters with nonsense. Its so maddening that there's so little info on past GA essay scoring etc... like, if I did well on MPT and average on MBE do I have a good shot of passing even if I did stinky on the essays?

Yes. Apparently they don't take your old Multistate score, they just give you the bare minimum passing for the Multistate, and combine it with whatever you got on the essays/MPT. So everything is riding on the essays, and I did the same thing, just brain dumped for pages. ugh. I have no idea how the MPT vs. essays are weighed.

I believe this is correct:
MBE = 50%
MPT = 21.4% (10.7% each)
GA essays = 28.6% (7.15% each)

Checking in. Took the full exam. Totally distracted by the impending score release. Literally no clue how I'm gonna pass in February while working full-time if I didn't manage to pass the July exam. The next few couple weeks are going to be brutal.

Any word on the EXACT release data/time? I don't wanna be a nervous wreck constantly checking like I was for LSAT over a 4 day span. That was awful.

Supposedly October 24 is the day. Do not know what time the scores will be released though. Thank the lord it's a friday - probably not going to want to come into work the next day, be the news positive or negative.

Looks like 10/24 at 4:30.

Did anyone hear that they send out letters before this date?? I heard that if you passed you get a letter, and depending on where you live, you may get the letter before the results come out.

Last year if I recall they released a bit earlier than the 4:30 stated time and the GaBar website crashed. Fortunately, someone pdf-ed a screen grab and shared a dropbox link. I encourage someone to do the same this year.

A lot of people at work told me that any friends I have clerking for judges would get the results that morning because they send them to the judges early. Told a clerk friend, who called the state bar--not happening.

Gonna be a looooong Friday...

Can anyone confirm that those of us who live close will get letters in the mail on friday? Have been given off work on Friday b/c of the impending results, and am wondering if I should be expecting to find out when the mailman shows up (I live a few miles from the Office of Bar Admissions). Really not keen on agonizing all day Friday (like I haven't been agonizing thus far...) :shock:

For what it's worth, I called the office on Wednesday morning about a new address change. The person on the other line said they have not printed out the envelopes yet. So I doubt you will receive anything in the mail on Friday.

Has anyone noticed that the GA bar site says we will receive notification of the results under the admissions documents tabs and additionally that a list will be posted at 4:30 PM.

I wonder if both will be updated at the same time? Any other thoughts?

I've reread and reread that post. I took it to mean that we will receive notification earlier in the morning while the list will be posted at 4:30. I took this to mean that they will let the applicants know individually before everyone else knows whether said applicant passed.

I believe this because my brother-in-law told me last year, they accidentally released the list earlier and someone texted him congratulations before he knew himself. I think they are trying to stop this from happening.

Just what I think. But who the fuck knows?

I hope you're right. At least you could get shit faced before all your friends find out you failed.

Time is going too slowly. Actually felt excited and confident today...until I started reading TLS forums. Back to anxiety.

I just logged into my account, and there is a button to "start a new application." Does anyone else have this?

Hopefully, it's not a "see you next February" sign haha.

But I do know they just opened up registration for everyone for the February and July bar of '15. Maybe it's just a system thing.

That button has been there for at least ten days (presumably for everyone with an active account), and I am pretty certain that it has no relationship with the results to be released within the next fifteen hours or so.

The GA Office of Bar Admission has just removed the February 2014 Pass List from its website, indicating that its posting of a new list is imminent.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
