Re: Harvard Law c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Not to mention that the stakes were raised by some posters cunningly employing game theory to up the ante between pages 170 and 180. Now, if we get a wave before 180, everyone with an LSAT below the current page count gets dinged. So, a wave before 180 now will be very bad for almost everyone here. Wave at page 181, God help us all.

Thanks!Rigo wrote:180 is just a lucky number for us. It's both a perfect LSAT and the biglaw starting salary.HonestlyThough wrote: Hi all....I'm new. Sorry to be so naive, but what's the deal with hitting 180?

I'm helping! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iExgnVXSAuEKinch08 wrote:It started out as a bad joke that we clung to long after it stopped being funny (originates in LSAT wait threads, because LSAT waiters are superstitious folk--if the thread reaches 180 on Grey Day, everyone gets a 180). The modified form holds that if this thread is on page 180 when the first JS2 is reported in it, everyone who's posted in the thread (including you) will be admitted into HLS.HonestlyThough wrote:

but at this point it's also an actual sincere superstition. Gives us the illusion of control because being powerless is nerve-wracking.

I don't think we know how many JS1's from WL end up not receiving JS2's (I hope not many; it would suck to have your hopes raised and dashed like that), so the numbers you give will change based on that. But your point is taken.
The 30% figure is from a past year's thread.
