I would assume that they'd wait on a decision until your residency is confirmed because Virginia is required to accept a certain percent of in-state students. They wouldn't accept you without knowing how it would affect the ratio of in state to out of state acceptances.
I know of one applicant who applied RD and was an in-state candidate, and was accepted before the residency office processed their form. Just FYI in case anyone else is in the same boat as her/him.

Is there a way to change your application to Binding Early Decision after submitting it as Regular Decision?

Thanks. Called Admissions Office. FWIW official line is that an undetermined residency status does not mean that you won't receive a decision on your app. That said, it seems to me that it can only help to have residency determined prior to the decision.

Anyone have an opinion on UVA v. UT? Is UVA just like worlds ahead of UT in terms of job prospects? I want to practice in the south and may end up practicing in Texas?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you're sure you want to practice in TX, you're prob better off going to UT Austin. Are you from TX originally?

haven't had any updates since i went complete in early december. today my seat deposit fees popped up on the status checker, no other changes. any thoughts? feel free to ridicule the fact that i'm childishly obsessing over a decision that will inevitably arrive in the near future.

is it too late to write a why UVA?

fingers crossed...

I'd probably second this. Both schools are probably equal when it comes to UVa feeding into DC and VA and UT feeding into TX. So if you want to practice in TX, UT is a better bet.

I tend to disagree with this. I would say UVA is probably ahead of UT in terms of placement, even in TX. Everyone at UT applies to mainly TX firms. Firms want to take from different top schools. IF you have strong ties to Texas (grew up there or went to UG there (or both) I would take UVA (which I did). Unless of course you get lots of money from UT and not UVA

WOW! I just got my acceptance package - which included a pretty sweet scholarship offer. Nothing was mentioned on the phone, and I was kind of thinking that meant I'd have to pay sticker, so this was a really nice surprise. :)

wait listed here too. submitted mid-November, OOS, and wrote a why UVA. I was planning on updating them on what I've been doing, would it be a good idea to still do it? or should I write a LOCI instead? thanks.

In via email/phonecall!! Submitted 11/7. Above GPA median/right below LSAT median, OOS, Why UVA?

I called him abooooout two minutes after he sent the email, but I just happened to be checking my email at a good time okay , but he totally called me out on it.
