Would you rather have a Kia or a BMW?
A 1987 Kia or a new BMW.
The new Kias just don't break down

You can get a 4 GB i3 Lenovo T410i for $800. Where is the $400-500 coming from? warranty or the i5?SAE wrote:Sorry if this was discussed already. I am considering:
Asus K42JC-A1 vs. Sony Vaio EB Series with about the same specs (i5, 500 gb HD, 4 gb RAM, HDMI).
The Asus has a smaller screen and is more compact, but less sleek looking. The price range is in the $800's for both.
Does anyone have experience with either or can recommend one over the other?
Should I just shell out the extra $400-500 for the Lenovo T410?
I played around on the website and a comparably equipped machine is in the $1,200's. I am pretty sure it was the T410, not T410i.HBK wrote:You can get a 4 GB i3 Lenovo T410i for $800. Where is the $400-500 coming from? warranty or the i5?

The Edge does have HDMI. Used it the other day to watch something from Hulu on my TV that my DVR forgot to record.HBK wrote:Alas, the Thinkpad doesn't have an HDMI (I think the Edge may).
Yeah, the larger HDD and processor would put it over. I'm planning on having a desktop, so HDD size doesn't matter much- keep all my media on a PC.SAE wrote:I played around on the website and a comparably equipped machine is in the $1,200's. You're talking about the slim thinkpad?SAE wrote:I played around on the website and a comparably equipped machine is in the $1,200's. I am pretty sure it was the T410, not T410i.HBK wrote:You can get a 4 GB i3 Lenovo T410i for $800. Where is the $400-500 coming from? warranty or the i5?

Good point. Not sacrificing anything for the exams. So it looks like it will be this guy for me (as of right now).kalvano wrote:I found the keyboard on 13" models (of any maker) to be slightly too small for comfort.
For what it's worth, the 12 inch Thinkpad X201 has the same size keyboard as the Thinkpad 410.SAE wrote:Good point. Not sacrificing anything for the exams. The Mac vs. PC debate is a never ending one. I'm going with a mac for a # of different personal reasons. If I were to get a PC, I'd definitely go with Lenovo. It really is a personal choice at a certain point.pineapples wrote:Coming into this thread very late...
Can anyone tell me if it's worthwhile to get a Mac for school? If so, which one? I'm more concerned with having the best laptop for school than I am about price (though price will definitely factor into my decision)...
Weight is definitely a factor as well... I'll be commuting 40 min each way via NY public transit.
Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!

We will be assimilated by the Borg before that ever happens.ResolutePear wrote:Until people figure out that a mac is a PC.Mr. Matlock wrote:The Mac vs. PC debate is a never ending one.
