Honestly, I'd rather give you the $100 if you won't apply. This could be life changing, go for it!Wormfather wrote:I just got a letter from Yale asking me to apply. Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
I remembered seeing a thread on this a couple of years ago, found it.
Maybe you could pm a couple of these posters, see what their experience was with it?

Personally, I'd say YOLO. It's a chunk of change to be sure, but...

According to LSN, no one reported being admitted with an LSAT lower than 165 last year. Still, it couldn't hurt if you have $100 to spare.

Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
Got a packet with all the bells and whistles from Yale last year asking me to apply with a 167/3.78
Kept it as motivation they were using me as just some person to pad their stats.
Mentioned minority factors but I knew I had no urm status thanks to TLS.

Ummm...I would love to see this packet. LolWormfather wrote:Also the package has 10 sample PS's/16 sample 250's from admitted students. And a bunch of tips from students like the following:

Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
I got this last year. Clearly a diversity recruitment tool, so I didn't pay the $100.
But occasionally, I find myself wondering...
So, if you have the $100 to spare, it might be worth it so you never have to ask yourself, "what if?"

Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
If you are AA and your LSAT is 164 then they're not necessarily trolling. According to some calculators, URM with those numbers is a reach at CoN and a target at Ch. If AA is the "best" URM, then why not Yale? Although I would say that if you only have a hundred bucks, Harvard is a safer reach.
ETA: Also, you know your softs. If you haven't done anything interesting, then the case for blowing the money on Harvard is stronger. If you are a former Marine captain and olympic athlete, the case for Yale gets more compelling.

Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
You should apply. It's obviously a bit of a long shot (as are most apps to YLS), but your chances are good enough to justify paying for a definitive answer. Applying late in the game doesn't hurt with YLS, so take the time to make the rest of your app as good as you can.Wormfather wrote:I just got a letter from Yale asking me to apply. Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
I just got this today too! I'm 3.76/170 non-URM Hispanic, so I'm preeeetty positive I will not be getting in. But I think I'm just going to suck it up and spend the money so I can know for sure. I think you should do the same, especially since you're a URM!Wormfather wrote:I just got a letter from Yale asking me to apply. Re: Is Yale Trolling Me?
I think you should do it, Worm, because your GPA is really high and you never know. I got an e-mail from the Harvard Latino group (La Alianza) a couple of weeks ago encouraging me to apply but I'm not going to bother. I also don't feel confident that my URM status could mitigate my weak LSAT score.

I got the same packet today. It made me a little sad cause I know I wouldn't be getting in LSAT is way too low AA 3.74/165

Combining the % of AA URMs with say a 164 and 3.9+, you are in pretty rarified air dude. Go for it. This is an odd cycle and apps are way down, as I'm sure you know.Wormfather wrote:I just got a letter from Yale asking me to apply.
