178 3.09 from top 20 (Econ/Pre-med double major), 1 WE as
paralegal and lots of service/leadership activities in college.
Already in at washu and denied at berkley.
I applied to a good number of T14s, wondering what my chances may be.

I'd guess out at T14 except UVA w/ED, and decent shot at Georgetown.

Thanks. Didn't do that so I guess I may be head to STL, pretty much blanketed except for HYS so hopefully I'll get lucky somewhere. Gotta say Law school predictor had me more optimistic than that but loooking at LSN I've gotten the impression that you're analysis is more likely.

If you do not mind paying sticker at UVA then you can always switch your application to ED and probably be accepted there.

ED deadline is same as RD deadline, March 1. You can still do it.
http://www.law.virginia.edu/html/prospectives/faqs.htmEarly Decision option: There is no separate deadline for Early Decision applications. An applicant who originally applied under the regular decision guidelines may choose to apply under the Early Decision option by submitting the early decision agreement to the Office of Admissions. Early Decision applicants will be notified of their decision no later than 15 days after all the following criteria have been met: the application for admission is complete, the early decision agreement has been received and residency status has been determined.

I guess I have some thinking to do. Interesed to hear other people's thoughts at chances (I would LOVE either GT or Duke for which LSP both said "admit")

I was speaking about career prospects. They are much better at UVA than GTown, so if I were you I'd rather go there (UVA) and still be only a couple hours away from family in DC instead of feeling like you needed to stay in DC.splitmuch wrote:Yeah I love and have family in DC so its not a pure ranking thing for me.

I'm at UVA now and I make it up to DC at least once a month, usually more. ~2.5 hr drive/train ride.
Duke seems to have a pretty hard GPA floor well above a 3.09. It just doesn't look like you have a shot there. GT is a maybe, but I don't think it's worth the risk when you could lock up UVA and still be close to DC.

I should have been more specific, I meant I have a brother with whom I could live rent free so, from a loan perspective, that could really help. That said, your points make sense and I'm seriously considering your suggestion.berkeleykel06 wrote:I'm at UVA now and I make it up to DC at least once a month, usually more. ~2.5 hr drive/train ride.

Very similar to the dilemma that I faced three months ago, except that UVA was really my first choice among the schools that I had realistic chances. A part of me wants OP to not switch his UVA app to ED so I can see how my cycle would have turned out had I not ED'd to UVA. However, switching the UVA app to ED is probably the right call.

Yeah. I know the Ed to UVA is played but i've never met anyone on TLS that goes there who regretted EDing.Deep Trench wrote:Very similar to the dilemma that I faced three months ago, except that UVA was really my first choice among the schools that I had realistic chances. I don't think I'd say this if the OP applies in September. That LSAT is pretty fucking stellar. I'd guess you might be in at Michigan, GULC, UVA if ED, MAYBE Duke, definitely NU with one more year as a paralegal.berkeleykel06 wrote:I'd guess out at T14 except UVA w/ED, and decent shot at Georgetown.

I guess the other factors would be should I anticipate getting much or any money from Wash U? And, while I assume transferring into HYS would be easier from UVA, how much easier would it be?

eeeeek. first of all, having the attitude that you want to transfer before you even get to school is really, really bad. if you have the grades at UVA to transfer to HYS (a HUUUUUUGE maybe) you'd much much better off staying at UVA if you're thinking in terms of job prospects. also, there's about a 90-95% chance that you won't have the grades to transfer, so keep that in mindsplitmuch wrote:I guess the other factors would be should I anticipate getting much or any money from Wash U? I have no idea if I'll want to transfer, my assumption is I wouldn't from UVA though from a prospects standpoint it may make sense from WashU.
