What are my chances of getting into Duke Law with a 4.0 gpa and an LSAT of 166? I'm applying through the early decision period as well.
Does it help me that one of my letters of rec is from an alumni?

Close to as bad as they can get.

You want t14, or duke specifically, the only CR is retake.

On LSN, basically everyone with a 166 from 4.05 on down was waitlisted. Now, it looks like they all applied in Nov., so if you are applying early Oct. with ED, that should give you some boost, but not much. Given your numbers, you are most likely deferred, waitlist. You should definitely look at EDing to UVA. They are taking in tons of sub 170s (there was a 4.0 162 on here who got in this cycle a week or two ago ED non URM) into UVA. Check it out. Or Gtown late ED.
