3.3 gpa. 150 lsat score

Post by cr114 » Wed Jul 14, 2010 12:11 pm

Both my GPA and lsat score are pretty low. Do I have any chance of getting accepted into a law school?

Have you heard of Cooley? According to their rankings they are in the T14!

Did you study much to get that 150? If not, work harder and retake. If so, there are certainly law schools that would accept you, but not the kind that'd give you good job opportunities after graduation. If you can't improve on the 150, perhaps law school is not the way to go.

according to LSP, you could get into a handful of T3 schools, as well as some even better part time programs. Part time is almost always, in my exp, more lenient on admission #s. For full time, though, check out a lot of the T3 schools and some T4. If you really want to go to law school thats what youll have to do. I'm also considering T3 schools (Stetson, Ole Miss, etc). Some T3 schools still have good job prospects because they are the only school (well-known, maybe) in the state. Like USC and Ole Miss. Not sure their numbers, but you can give it a shot. Also, URM?

Ole Miss with a 3.3/150? He/she better be URM (Native/African/Mexican American).

He/she would be a lock on Mississippi College/Loyola New Orleans and some more schools.

Thank you. The schools I was looking at were Suffolk, Northeastern, and Roger Williams.
Looking at these schools what should my Lsat score be? Also, is it bad to take the December Lsats if I'm applying for fall 2011?

Def retake and reapply. A 3.3 is a mediocre GPA, but with a 163 Lsat, you may get into a t50. I still think you should not consider law school unless you go to a top 30 but thats your choice.

You could go to Suffolk, Northeastern, Roger Williams, but beware of the horrendous career prospects.

Retake. That's a not-so-great GPA, but it's not awful. An LSAT in the low 160's would allow you in to a T50. Even in the high 150's, you could get in to a T2 school.

A well-respected regional school is not a bad idea, and rank matters less when you get to that type of school, but with that LSAT you won't even be able to get that far. Definitely retake.

Are you an URM? That will certainly help- I mean, and not that I am any form of expert, I have seen (and this depends on how honest they are being) people getting into schools that generally require approx. 6 points higher on the LSAT. So, good luck, but if your not URM I think it will be challenging.

I scored a 156 and have a 3.45 and I am bottom top 100 to tier 3. If I don't take again I may not get where I would like. Hopefully the fact that I have 10 years work experience and Honorable service in the military will help, but I think it is mainly a numbers game, so....
