*Official 2009 ASW Thread*

Postby sluggo » Thu Dec 11, 2008 7:16 pm

ASW's are officially over at this point and I just wanted to congratulate everyone on their acceptances and wish them luck in choosing the best school for them. I'll leave the dates so people can search the forums next year to get an idea of what to expect. Again, congrats!

If you have an additional school to add (especially regarding accommodations), reimbursement information, or additional logistical information please post it and I'll add it to this master post. What if you drive? I'm planning on doing a road trip and am hoping that an airline ticket receipt is not required for this reimbursement.

To Berkeley? You need to book it through their corporate airline account. There is no reimbursement.

Anyone know if you can combine money between schools? I would be traveling from overseas to attend, so needless to say, no amount any school has offered will cover the costs! I'm hoping I can pool the money for the plane ticket overseas and then bum around between ASWs once I'm back in the states...?

Does anyone know how consistent the schools tend to be from year to year with their ASW... I was thinking of putting in some dates from the past year to *estimate when the ASW would be this year, because I am impatient.

Just got e-mail from Dean C at Georgetown. First ASW will be: January 22-23, 2009. Not sure about subsidy.

Has anyone actually booked their Berkeley trip yet? Just wondering how working with travel agent goes. Also, are people just planning on trying to stay with current students?

More generally, how many of these do people typically go to/plan on going to? Other than the money, it's also sort of tough to take a bunch of Thursday/Fridays off from work for a few weeks in row.

Sounds good. Anyone heard from NYU seeing as how they've given acceptances recently?

Regarding Michigan, if people here can't attend ASW or want to have some fun with 1Ls, I'm sure I can arrange something with my buddies (awesomepossum, tl, lothar, etc.). Justtt send me a PM.

Emmy,

Thanks for the invite. I actually probably will be doing a non-ASW trip to UM and I have a friend who goes there. PM me when you get a chance... I'm curious if you know him.

Emmy or other Michigan students/ASW attendees: do you know if events for the ASWs begin early in the day Thursday or could we come in after work...? (Haven't been accepted yet, but planning ahead just in case--hopefully :D )

They didn't provide dates, but they said they will have a couple dates to choose form in the spring. I'll keep you posted.

Stanford's ASW is April 18 through 20.

Edited to add: I lied. The admitted students website says they reimburse up to $400 outside of California, $200 coming within California, plus $26 each direction to/from the airport. And the admitted students website says it's the 17th through the 20th...
