Visiting UCLA!

Post by pereira6 » Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:23 am

Just got the phone call yesterday, and I haven't received the e-mail with the details, but Dean Schwartz mentioned two admitted student events. I know there was the April 10th day, but I forget when the other one was.

I plan on visiting April 10th! Anyone else going then?

P.S. I know there is a similar thread to this, but it indicates a weekend for the 8th-10th and also alludes to a diversity aspect to the event that was insinuated in their e-mail. Dean Schwartz specifically mentioned an event to me for just the 10th, so I do think it's something different :)

Hm, it's really odd they have one ASD on a Monday, and the other on a Sunday?

Edit: Just realized the March 14th one is during my Spring Break/not during the NCAA tournament, and therefore I should probably try and go then. I don't know when I'm going yet anymore :P ...anyone else plan on visiting on either day?

Yeah, and the Sunday one lasts all day while the Monday one is just an afternoon. I'd rather go to the April admitted students day, but I might be going to Vandy that weekend and also the March one is during spring break so I won't miss any classes.

I am for sure visiting Vandy on April 8th, but I figure I can get a flight back to my hometown in the AM Saturday, and then take a flight from my hometown to LA a few hours later and stay in LA Saturday night. I don't think Vandy will include a trip from Nashville to LA (when LA is not my hometown) as part of their travel reimbursement.

I'll be going April 10th! : )

Also as a note, I started the April 8-10 weekend thread. The 8th and the 9th are Diversity Welcome activities, and the last day is the April 10th ASD.

I'm glad this thread was created. So excited to visit the campus and meet future classmates!

I figured you would be poppin' in soon :)

In the UCLA Waiting thread somebody told me about a really nice hostel. Because I'm only staying one night, I think I'm just gonna stay there. Again, it's supposed to be really great by hostel standards.

Nice! See you there! I'm really curious about this plush hostel.

Surely, there are more than just four of us going, right? Bueller?

I know that place :> It's pretty cool but there are a lot of sketchy people (it is a hostel after all). Don't get up in the middle of the night if you hear shots or screams. If a knife fight erupts nearby you can watch and cheer but don't get too close.

And I envy all of you guys! Have fun in LA.

Eh, for $34, I'll take it.

I'll be driving up from OC for the day.

Looking forward to meeting some of you there.

Anybody know the standard dress code for these types of events? Casual or business casual?
