I am going to be in the area of my top choice (Northwestern) tomorrow, where I'm also waitlisted. Would you recommend visiting the admissions office? The bigger question is, what should I say/do while I'm there? I want to show my interest but at the same time don't want to seem too pushy. The other thing is, I don't really have anything constructive to say or ask them other than begging for admittance and why its my top choice. I've sent two LOCI over the past two months as well as another strong LOR and I've been pretty explicit that this school is my unequivocal #1. At this point in the game would it be any help to check in with the admissions office and if so, what should I say/do?

definitely. you don't have to say anything particularly significant, just ask for a tour or something. it's the showing up that's important.

I'm superstitious... I never visited a school before I got into it (except once) because I thought I would jinx myself. The one I did visit I got a rejection letter from within a couple days of my visit.

Stupid, I know... but you don't want to tempt the law school gods.

Definitely, and you should try to meet with someone in admissions if you can, but of course only if you can come up with some good questions to ask. I think the point is just showing you are seriously interested in their program and less about selling yourself which I am sure you have already done in your original app, LOCI etc. good luck!

I didn't, because I worried I'd fall too much in love with it when the possibility of getting in was so low. Plus there was no reason to actually investigate because I was ready to go there sight unseen. And when I finally visited after getting in, it was all the more thrilling!

You should visit the school. Visit with professors, visit with students. Then write a loci about it. Find something at the school you like (club, clinic, etc) and talk to the director of that and write another Loci about it. Show you are serious and that you are different and trust me it will work in your favor.
