Maybe I'm being a killjoy, but it irritates me when people compare Gothic campuses to Hogwarts, since Hogwarts is little more than Oxbridge on HGH.

One of my good (and very intelligent) friends went to Cambridge to study abroad, and he remarked how much it was like Hogwarts. I think the smarter thing to say is how Hogwarts is so much like Cambridge, since one slightly predates the other!

Man, check your facts! Hogwarts was founded in the 9th or 10th century, and Cambridge was founded around 1209. Cambridge -- so derivative.

This post would make much more sense if "x is like y" in any way described a chronology rather than a comparison.

I guess my beef is that people seem to give architectural credit to Hogwarts, when Hogwarts is just derivative of Oxbridge. It's less about chronology than about the original vs the copy.

It wouldn't make me feel any less pleased if someone said I look like my son.

I second this! The advisor was bragging they get to watch the dolphins play and the humpbacks swim by on their migration. I stood there gazing at the ocean and white beaches and thought I entered shangri-la

Pepperdine's campus and location are undoubtedly amazing, but that beauty doesn't really extend to the law school itself.

UNC? Really? From the looks of it on the web, it wasn't all that spactacular on the inside. I could be wrong.

How can any school really beat Stanford? It's like going to law school at a country club or a resort, right?

There's sun right now. (73 degrees today!) Seattle's weather has been unbelievably good over the past five years. Indian summers almost every year, sunny winters, extra hot, rainless, mostly cloudless summers (save for 2008, when summer came really late)

After reading this, I don't think you've even been in Seattle the past two years. This past summer, warm weather was non-existent. There hasn't been a "dry" winter since 04/05. The fact is, Seattle is just not a very nice place in the winter. It's extremely dark due to it's relatively nothern latitude and cloudy winter days (I think this is why Aurora Bridge is the #2 suicide spot in the USA).

However, if you like skiing, it's always nice to know the mountains are getting hammered when it's cold, wet, and gloomy in the city. It's a very nice place if you enjoy an active lifestyle and outdoor activities, and don't mind getting wet.
