Seriously. Does columbia even send awards before 4/2/2010? There's some evil strategy at play here...

Hm, $37,500 scholarship from NYU. not bad, but I think this cements my decision to go to Columbia, as it's not quite enough money to sway me.

It is seriously outrageous that schools impose these expedited deadlines for scholarship decisions. That should honestly be illegal or outlawed.

Or prohibited by legislature at the very least.

$50,000 (20/20/10). Nice, but not enough.

Hating the deadline as well, but I'm hating some other things too.
I didn't know that GRAD PLUS loans worked like they did, that's pretty reassuring.
What are the limitations/annual limit for GRAD PLUS awards?

Were you invited to apply for a Dean's Award?

Up to the total cost of attendance (this is set by each school).
You should really browse around FAQs and things like that on these schools' financial aid websites to get more comfort with the process and the terms. You can also call financial aid officers and most of them are more than happy to talk you through this, before you make your own assumptions about what programs you are/aren't eligible for.

did you get invited to apply for a dean's scholarship? i think those are the people who are getting money...unfortunately, i think, if you didn't get the invitation to apply for a dean's scholarship, merit money is not in the picture...not definite on this though

What I'm curious about, is what kind of need-aid that non-scholarship people get. All my need aid was rolled into this scholarship.

I was not invited for the Deans scholarship, and got a 25k total offer today. So there is hope for those of you who didn't get that email.

75k for me. I'm not really considering NYU, so I'll withdraw soon and hopefully free that money up for someone.

Right, because you totally need $165,000 as incentive to attend a school in the top five in the best city on Earth.
Consider this a death threat.
