Re: UVA 2010, RD
The more I read about UVA and Charlottesville, the more I want to do everything in my power to get in. I applied RD for practical purposes, but am considering switching to ED as there is still time. Everything's been in for a month now, minus the ED letter (obviously), and not under review yet.
166/3.91. What do you guys think? Advice, data, criticism are appreciated (some more so than others though ).

You have a pretty good shot ED.badwithpseudonyms wrote:The more I read about UVA and Charlottesville, the more I want to do everything in my power to get in. Re: UVA 2010, RD
It wasn't so much another dream school (UVA, Duke, Michigan, and Cornell are all great schools in the kinds of places I'd like to spend three years), but more about scholarship money at lower ranked schools. And that's still pretty much the case. It would be nice to not have to go $150k in the hole.YCrevolution wrote:I think EDing would make sense, provided that there isn't another law school that you would deeply regret not attending (if admitted) if you attend UVA.
I know the WL at UVA is a death knell, and I feel like my chances aren't nearly as good RD. (Interestingly, LSP gave me my best ED chances at Duke.) I could take a shot getting off a WL this spring at another school, but it's kind of a crap shoot. ...I don't know.
By the way, LSP has been extremely helpful. Thanks!

Not the case this year - somebody got waitlisted with a 176 and sub-3 GPA.im_blue wrote:TITCR. I believe no one with both numbers below median got in last year (3.84-/169-), while every 3.85+ or 170+ applicant got in ED.

My sense is that TLS oversells UVA ED.

Got my admissions packet in the mail today.
Edit: The "form" letter thing notifying me of my admission was accompanied by personal notes from the dean and the director of admissions. Cool.

I know! I'm starting to go crazy with all the status checkers that just sit there fore weeks on end. Then I remember it's only the first week of December and that I'm being ridiculous.5ky wrote:UVA is really starting to depress me with their lack of movement. I just want something to happen!

I also have noticed that they do little follow correspondence. There is no admitted students site or anything. I haven't heard anything from them in nearly two months. I want the continued love that all the other schools seem to give out.5ky wrote:I had to go all the way to the second page of threads in this subforum to dig out the UVA thread. I think Tom Petty said it best...
Oh UVA don't it feel like heaven right now
Don't it feel like something from a dream
Yeah I've never known nothing quite like this
Don't it feel like this cycle might never be again
We know better than to try and pretend
UVA, no one coulda ever told me 'bout this
I said yeah yeah
Chorus
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day I see one more admit
I'm losing my faith, and taking it hard
The waiting is the hardest part
Well yeah I might have chased a couple other schools around
All it ever got me was down
Then there were those that made me feel good
But never as good as I would be feeling now
UVA, you're the only one that's ever known how
To make me wanna live like I wanna live now
I said yeah yeah
Chorus
The waiting is the hardest part
Every day gets a little more hard
I kinda want to fall on a broken glass shard
The waiting is the hardest part

No point in checker your status checkers at UVA. You'll get a WL/reject/call this number ____ admit email before your status checker changes.

Cordel Faulk made it pretty clear when I talked to him that it was going to be quiet until the new year and then we'll be getting lots of additional info from UVA.Rand M. wrote:I also have noticed that they do little follow correspondence. But I agree, W&M is constantly sending me emails and I've been contacted by a student and an alum in my area. Very nice touch.

Although, at some point this changes right? They don't do the whole phone call thing for the entire season do they?

Yeah, I think it was the e-mail I got from W&M today that made me really take notice of how long it has been since I have heard anything from UVa. I'm patient though, still glad to be in.hopefulundergrad wrote:Cordel Faulk made it pretty clear when I talked to him that it was going to be quiet until the new year and then we'll be getting lots of additional info from UVA.Rand M. wrote:I also have noticed that they do little follow correspondence. More UVa acceptances in the coming days I'm sure.

Virginia isn't too bad. It will snow a couple of times, but comparatively, it gets cold later than a lot of other places. We seem to get all of the seasons more than just about anyone. 8 months out of the year it is pretty nice. The cold ends before you know it most years and its really just starting to get cold. I am a little farther south than C'ville, but the weather is pretty similar.tintin wrote:Got my acceptance packet in the mail, with a little note from dugas....very nice and lots of info.
