Congrats Bella!
To the waitlisters - today is the deposit deadline, so you shouldn't have to wait too long to hear from UM. Good luck!

Re: In at Miami!
My deadline is March 22nd but I'm thinking I'm going to have to withdraw sometime soon. I had hoped to get some money but the school does not think they will have any money to allocate even with other withdraws.
Anyways, withdraw coming soon probably.

has anyone gotten money? or knows how thats gonna work? ive seen a lotta people withdraw that had money attached...where does that money go?
something tells me they over extend themselves with cash then reel it back in with the withdraws, and dont hand out additional money. you guys think that 's true too? (note: i dont think im in a position to get any money just curious

Re: In at Miami!
I've asked that same question before on this thread and somebody said that they project their scholarship amounts just like their yield. So, no, they shouldn't be giving out any additional moneymidrangejumper wrote:has anyone gotten money? or knows how thats gonna work? ive seen a lotta people withdraw that had money attached...where does that money go?

I don't know if the same rule applies to all schools but I asked this question to an admissions counselor at another school and she said that scholarship does NOT get redistributed as people withdraw. Sneaky little law schools...midrangejumper wrote:has anyone gotten money? or knows how thats gonna work? ive seen a lotta people withdraw that had money attached...where does that money go?

Re: In at Miami!
I think it has to do with the fact that schools offer scholarships to more students that they can actually afford to, with the knowledge that many of the offers will not be accepted.meerap wrote:I don't know if the same rule applies to all schools but I asked this question to an admissions counselor at another school and she said that scholarship does NOT get redistributed as people withdraw. Re: In at Miami!
I got accepted to Miami last week. My question is after taking a tour of the campus next week, can I meet with an Admissions Coordinator and ask for Scholarship money?
Also, what is the protocol for doing so?
I already paid my seat deposit (no $$)
I would really appreciate some feedback.

Re: In at Miami!
Did anyone else get this e-mail?
Dear Admitted Law Applicant,
We are pleased to announce that a greater number of students than we expected have paid their seat deposits and have selected the University of Miami School of Law as their choice for fall enrollment.
In light of this, we are able to permit a limited number of students to defer entry until fall 2010 without the need to reapply. Should you wish to take advantage of this opportunity, contact us prior to your deposit due date by e-mail at admissions@law.miami.edu, or by telephone at 305-284-2795. You may also fax your request to 305-284-3084. Requests for deferral will be considered in the order received. You will be advised by e-mail and telephone whether or not your request is granted.
If your plans have changed and you no longer intend to study at the School of Law, we would greatly appreciate your notifying us immediately.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Goodnight
Assistant Dean of Admissions
