Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
I’m a URM and with my sept 167 they gave me a fee waiver today, I tried to solicit one with my old 163 earlier and was denied. So probably the URM threshold is somewhere between those two numbers. Also in the email it said that they based it off of LSAT alone and no other factors so I guess they didn’t look at gpa

Any know if there’s a chance they send another wave of fee waivers or is it time to just suck it up and pay?

I just sucked up and paid. 172/Superior. Guessing they do waves of fee waivers monthly/bi-monthly but if they overlooked me this time can't see why they wouldn't again. It all seems a bit arbitrary.

Quite miffed that I haven't been offered a waiver. I even emailed the office with my stats and they said they only process waivers via LSAC's waiver program.

Would you mind sharing what you said? I emailed them too and got the response about only processing through LSAC hahaalbinododobird wrote:I actually sent them an email to ask about it, and after a bit of back and forth, they gave me one!sillymints7962 wrote:Same happened here, I ended up biting the bulletalbinododobird wrote:Quite miffed that I haven't been offered a waiver. Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
After they said the thing about processing through LSAC, I said that it's my understanding that they also gave automatic fee waivers to people on the basis of LSAT scores. Then they asked me if I signed up for the candidate referral service. I said that I did and was getting waivers from other schools through it. Then they emailed me again and said that the waiver should be applied.thepsychedelic wrote:Would you mind sharing what you said? Does anyone know when the first round of decisions went out last year? I'm trying to get a sense of how frequently I should be checking my email - lol.

Y axis decision date
So the line of green line of dotes shows that lots of people that submitted between SEP and DEC got decisions on 18/19 January

Does the status checker ever indicate UR, or does it just stay at complete till the decision?

From their status checker:usaorbust wrote:Does the status checker ever indicate UR, or does it just stay at complete till the decision?
"Please note that once an application is rendered "Complete" per the status checker and accompanying email, no further updates will be communicated via the status checker. Additionally, admissions decisions will not be available online; rather, all applicants will receive their final decisions by mail."

checking in. going to be active and not just stalk TLS this cycle. [i posted this in my 7 favorite threads. can i do that?]
not sure how this works but here goes:
GPA: 3.6 [blah state school. easy major - Psychology]
LSAC GPA: 3.56
LSAT take one 163: [sat for it cold, no prep. so essentially a "diagnostic" only not ... because it was the actual LSAT]
LSAT take two 178: [almost cancelled]
URM: AfAm Female
softs: somewhere between nonexistent and unimpressive
