Enter your stats in the spreadsheet!! Haven't applied yet but I'm curious to see where everyone is.Arculease wrote:In via phone call! Stated that the financial aid committee has not convened this cycle yet, so scholarship offers will go out later

Also just FYI, I believe the spreadsheet's in view only mode (unless I'm missing something).

Officially in via phone call, also they are willing to fly people out to visit and put them in a hotel (seemed like all expense paid trip).

Admitted 12/3 with $25k conditional scholarship. Has anyone taken them up on the offer to fly down? What should I expect on the visit?
Better news - The iTunes gift card came via email the day after admittance.

I was admitted with a similarly sized scholarship, same condition. I think I'll visit there in January or February.nlytle wrote:Top halfpleadthafif wrote:What's the condition, top third?nlytle wrote:Admitted 12/3 with $25k conditional scholarship. In via phone call yesterday!
Same as a few of y'all. Conditional scholarship, $25K per year for staying in the top half. Will probably take them up on the trip sometime in January or February.
Uh....Roll Tide? Roll Tide.

Re: Alabama c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Just wanted to update about stuff that I've received since the phone call, for people that are curious.
A few days later I got a package in the mail with a short note and an extra-large Alabama Law t-shirt (definitely not my size, but still cool).
About a week after that I received a certified package with a bunch of stuff in it; here's the list:
- Formal offer of admission
- Scholarship terms & conditions for the "academic excellence scholarship" which I'll detail below
- A page entitled "So what's next?" outlining how to accept your offer of admission and the timeline between now and the start of classes.
- A page entitled "It starts here" outlining some general facts about the law school (e.g. Student-Faculty Ratio, Bar Passage Rates, LSAT and UGPA medians)
- A standard viewbook for the School of Law
- A small packet entitled "Law Student Favorites" which lists some local restaurants, breweries, theatres, and the like. This is my favorite thing.
- A campus map of the entire University of Alabama
- A visitors guide to Tuscaloosa
- A highway map of the state of Alabama
- The "Tuscaloosa Apartment Guide"
- A very thorough spreadsheet entitled "Tuscaloosa Apartments Recommended by Current and Recent Alabama Law Students". It includes address, phone numbers, types of apartments available, distance from the Law School, what type of pets they allow, whether they're unit or room-based leases, and the website.
- The "Sweet Home Alabama" vacation guide and calendar
So basically, just about everything you could possibly want to know about Alabama Law, Tuscaloosa, or the state itself. I was floored by the amount of information I got, and I'm still working through it.
Here's the specifics on the scholarship:
-$25,000 per year, renewable if you stay in the top 50%
-If you obtain in-state residency, the scholarship converts to $15,500 per year with the same conditions
-You have to accept the scholarship and place your $100 admissions deposit by April 1
Hope this is helpful information for some of y'all! Like I said, I was absolutely amazed by the amount of detail and consideration they put into this. I can't wait to visit campus sometime in the next couple of months and get to know the school better.

I went to Alabama for undergrad so if anyone has questions about UA or Tuscaloosa in general, feel free to ask! But as BirdLawExpert mentioned, the info in the acceptance package is super helpful.

For those that got the offer to be flown out, did you just contact the admissions office to get it set up? Also, where did you stay and what was the trip like? Lastly, this could be a reach but how open are they to purchasing tickets for significant others? My entire bf's family is from Tuscaloosa, so I would feel odd visiting down there without him.

How long after you guys applied did it take to get an acknowledgement email and status checker info? Applied last week and still haven't heard anything.

The turn around was pretty quick for me, within a few days. Have you checked your spam box?pleadthafif wrote:How long after you guys applied did it take to get an acknowledgement email and status checker info? Applied last week and still haven't heard anything.

Yep. According to LSAC they sent my report on 1/8 but so far nothing but crickets from UA.JDilemma wrote:The turn around was pretty quick for me, within a few days.
