Lololol when I chose the picture I was afraid everyone would think it was Jim. It's actually Chuck Bartowski.

Berkeley is known for not being predictable as far as numbers go, not dissimilar to Yale (just not as dramatic as dinging 179/3.98 applicants), they seem to actually look holistically at their applicants.

Yes basically you can have no clue how you will do, just look at the LSN graph in OP and see there is much less consistency basically there is no auto admit score. Your PS matters a great deal more than most other t14s

Hello all, and congratulations on the decision to apply to Berkeley! I may be biased (Cal undergrad, and soon to be Boalt student) but there really isn't a better environment to live and learn in. I was a longshot splitter applicant (<3.5 gpa) but I am thrilled to be one of those anomalous non-urm green data points surrounded by red.
If you have any questions about the application process, feel free to pm me or ask here! I'd be happy to read through personal statements and offer feedback. Berkeley gives you an extra opportunity to sell yourself with the extended PS, and you should absolutely take advantage of it!
Good luck!

Awfully sad I gave up that CA state residency though...
Isn't it super easy to re-establish residency after 1L? But yeah, out of state would suck if you once had in-state.
Oh, and welcome!

I was sad about this too. But then I looked up the
costs. A resident only pays $11,853 less over the whole 3-year JD program. I was hoping to reestablish residency because I thought that having an admission from Berkeley with a low COA could be used as leverage in a scholly negotiation. But the resident discount is a lot less than I thought it would be...unless i did my math wrong. Please say I did my math wrong.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
