Dang Elle, they're making you sweat it. Have you deposited anywhere else?
I really think the $250 deposit encouraged a lot of "maybe" people to put down money. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw your acceptance come after the 23rd.

Just got accepted with a huge offer. Now I don't know what to do since I'm still riding out some waitlists and have deposited elsewhere.

Congrats to everyone with offers. Hoping I can get off the waitlist.....
I thought they had too many tuition deposits? Why are they admitting people?

I bet you at least a couple deposits turned out like mine, where the person eventually decided against it.D2142 wrote:I thought they had too many tuition deposits? Why are they admitting people?
I withdrew my full early today, so far there have been three people admitted with varying amount of money (30k to Hk's 'Huge' which I assume is 90k+). If even 1-2 more fulls withdrew within the last couple days then that would explain it (Assuming like 1/3-1/4 of all admits post on TLS).
So happy for you all!

I sure hope enough people withdraw to give us waitlisters some good movement

Lol huge=full. I'm super hesitant (read: paranoid) to give anything away on here. Btw, Fordham were total dicks about my scholarship negotiation. They were actually really rude. Why did you withdraw from Illinois if you don't mind my askingD2142 wrote:Dredd_2017 wrote:I bet you at least a couple deposits turned out like mine, where the person eventually decided against it.D2142 wrote:I thought they had too many tuition deposits? On Fordham, I'm largely unsurprised although the tone on mine was less dickish and more snarky (Which I actually appreciate).hk227 wrote:Lol huge=full. For Illinois ultimately my decision came down to only two factors. First is that I'd prefer options outside of Chicago, which (Largely speaking) Illinois did not give me and WUSTL did (WUSTL places in Chicago, NY, its home state of Missouri / St Louis, and even a small but growing number in Texas / CA).
The other factor, and I admit the more important one, is that a very good friend of mine got into WUSTL but not Illinois (He is actually a better candidate than me but applied late). That was actually the tiebreaker as the COA both would be quite close, and why I made my final call.
I think, right now, UIUC at full is a huge win. They're clearly trying HARD to keep their stats up so they can ultimately get back to somewhere in the top 25-30 which means the money spigot is set to on. It's a great school I would have been fine with going to in other circumstances.

Current UIUC rising 2L if anyone has any questions. Dredd, I'm surprised to hear your friend got into WUSTL but not Illinois. I honestly don't think the late application would have caused such a large discrepancy. You are right that UIUC is really trying to get good numbers so I'm stunned that they would turn down a candidate who had the numbers to go to WUSTL.

How do you like UIUC? Is the campus fun? How does your class feel about the job market? What do you think separates UIUC from some of the other, similarly ranked B1G schools?

I went to UIUC for undergraduate, and there really isn't anything terrible to say about Champaign/Urbana. If you're used to a larger city, it may feel a bit slow and boring, but the cost of living is incredibly low and the campus is very active during the fall and spring semesters.bugsy33 wrote: How do you like UIUC? It is also $25 to take Amtrak to Chicago if you get REALLY bored

I'm actually torn between UIUC and UGA now. I have no preference to where I practice, and no ties to either state. I'm leaning toward withdrawing from UIUC because UGA is cheaper, even with the half scholarship Illinois gave me. Maybe the cash will help one of you waitlisters.

I definitely love the campus here, unfortunately the law building is kind of out of the way so you won't get the opportunity to see it during the average day. If you want to go out and grab a bite or go out and get a few drinks, I think the UIUC campus is one of the best around. Everyone is very friendly here and no one really seems to worries about the job market. That being said we will see how worried some people are when they are 3Ls. As for what separates UIUC from other similarly ranked B1G schools. Next to NU and Michigan it's the best B1G bet if you want Chicago big law (or Chicago anything really). Also you will never have to worry about huge events like post season bowls or NCAA championships distracting you from your studying.

There's really no way to know anything about the job market at the moment. Most folks expect it to be at least as good as it was last year, maybe a bit better. I think top 10% is a solid bet to get almost any interview here, with 10-25% getting interviews but being shut out at the top tier firms (Kirkland, Sidley, maybe Mayer). After that, things get dicey unless you have an IP background.bugsy33 wrote:illegallad wrote:Current UIUC rising 2L if anyone has any questions. I would not come here counting on Biglaw, though. If you want to work in the Midwest and don't particularly care what type of legal job you get, I would def recommend coming here on a big scholly.

I'm on a visit here right now. Campus is extraordinary, and the law school looks like a hundred times better on the inside compared to the outside. Also everyone I've met is extremely friendly.
