Held at Northwestern 2016

Post by Purplebook » Thu Mar 28, 2013 11:57 am

Let's dedicate this post to everyone who's been held!

Because it's painful to watch all the precious scholarship money being allocated with probably none being left for us

Holla. This hold really hurts and I'm doing my best to show them I love them. I have done updates, all the essays they asked for as well as a letter which is the equivalent of 'why NU' and I felt pretty good about my chances.

...that is until I realized I made a typo on the first line of an update about an award at work :(

So does anyone think our status checkers will be updated once we're under review again? Should I be stalking status checker now that it's officially early April? :)

Just had a sit-down with Johann, who told me that they'll begin taking a look at the hold pile at the beginning of next week, but we shouldn't expect anything until after the initial scholly deadline of 4/12. In other words, it's going to be at least another 2-3 weeks before we can reasonably expect them to decide on us.

He was clear to note that they go in fully intending to utilize the hold list, and that while the ding/waitlist decisions would be more plentiful, there are usually some admits.

What up holders!! I like that we have our own thread, since the Northwestern Applicants thread has been taken over by Accepted students. Hopefully we will hear some good news in the coming weeks :)

Yeah seriously! The applicants thread is basically a Class of 2016 thread right now.

Any updates this week anyone?

Hey, everybody. I'd do anything to get accepted from hold status. Feel like my status as a college senior will kill me but I've got some good post-grad WE lined up if I can get the job! 8)

So glad this thread got started! Lets bide our time by listing all the names different schools have for the not-admitted-but-not-rejected piles:

-Hold
-Waitlist
-Reserve
-Deferred

Any others?

Let's not forget Georgetown's waitlist, preferred waitlist, and special preferred waitlist, which I like to call the Tall, Grande, and Venti waitlists.

Haha that is amazing.
Btw your avatar is quite amusing. After staring it at for a few second, I feel like it is slowly hypnotizing me to sleep, or that could be the afternoon lull at work.

Welcome to another round of baseless Johann tweet speculation!
@tweetsbyjohann: As of right now, decisions have been rendered on 88% of complete JD applications.
Do you think we're included in the 12% or the 88%?

These types of waitlists remind me of the Airlines: Economy, Economy Plus, Economy Comfort, Coach aka plebeian masses, First Class aka royalty, Business Class, etc.

Got it. "We're not going to decide yet" is slightly better than *crickets*

Yes, but it also means there's that much bigger of an applicant pool left over to choose over us. If we were part of the 12%, we're competing against a smaller group of applicants.

I am more curious to know what percentage of the 88% are holds.

As part of the 88%, should we go out and "occupy" the admissions office?

I certainly hope that they will consider us along with the 12% that haven't received a decision yet in the next few weeks. Also looks like they're dealing out a lot of straight waitlists to the 12%. <-- according to all the people on TLS and LSN who got their decisions recently..

Hi Pammie,

Could you provide a link to that information? I applied to the 2 year JD in January and haven't yet heard anything.

Best,

DoC

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
