UM vs. UF Forum

Hey guys,

I recently got into UF, not sure if I got any money. Also got into UM with a 27k per year scholarship with stip being that I remain in the top half of the class. I'm from Miami, so i'm extremely torn. Looking for some advice...

UF at sticker is better than 27k to Miami.

UF: $128k total COA

UM: $233k - $81k = $152k total COA

I wouldn't go to UF at sticker but if you get some money there it might not be a bad choice. Don't go to UM. Even with a scholly it is more expensive than a much better school in UF and there is a chance you lose your scholarship and end up paying a ridiculous amount.

Retake for money at UF or go to UF now.

From what I've heard (I live in Florida and work alongside lawyers for a living), UM is a travesty of a school. Their bar passage rate is abysmal.

UF is the flagship school of Florida and I think you'd find it more worthwhile. Plus, Gainesville is very inexpensive and a fun little town.

If you want to go back to South FL I'd do either Miami for free tuition or UF for $75k debt. That's it.

I'm from Miami, so I could still live with my parents so my COL will be pretty low if I stay in Miami. I sent in a letter to UF to find out if I could receive money, since i've gotten MAJOR money from other schools.
