Checking in! In at a few other great schools, but I'll likely make this my home. Have to visit the other schools first, though, before I make a final decision.

Why is the ASW so late? Wouldn't we have had to make up our minds by then?

Checking in! Still deciding myself. The ASW is so late I think I'm going to have to go up on a weekend earlier to help me decide.

Checking in ...and that moleskine sounds exciting! (I'm obsessed with those). Do you know if SLS still pays to fly us out for ASW? (Haven't yet received my packet)

They give us $400 according to Dean Deal on the phone. I'm not sure if she quoted me that number just because I'm far from Stanford or if that's standard.footsie wrote:Checking in ...and that moleskine sounds exciting! (I'm obsessed with those). great --thank you for the info! Hopefully it's based on where we live/how far away it is from SLS, but it's good to know that there is a subsidybernaldiaz wrote:They give us $400 according to Dean Deal on the phone. Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
For those of you that haven't visited the campus before, my wife and I went this past spring and it was AMAZING! Here were my 3 main takeaways:
1) Tons of people on bicycles. I feel like out of everyone we saw, 50% were walking and 50% were riding bikes.
2) Beautiful and scenic campus.
3) Collaborative environment. I know we witnessed a small sample size, but I was impressed at how many people I saw working together at tables outside, on the grass, etc.

Re: In at Stanford: Class of 2016
Hey, so I'm guessing Santa Cruz had the same transfer deadline as Cal. Where does your spouse currently go to school? There are a couple small school options like Mills College and Santa Clara; also some larger state schools, like San Francisco State. Basically everything drops a few tiers after Berkeley and Stanford though since they are such powerhouses.Alassio wrote:Found out today!
I would probably pick Stanford over H or Y if I were single, but my wife is finishing up her bachelors and will need to transfer to wherever I go. It doesnt seem like there are many schools around Stanford (well, other than Stanford).
Does anyone know any good (maybe even decent) undergrad schools in the area (or even in San Francisco)? Berkeley would have been an option, but it's transfer deadline was back in November.

She told me the same number on the phone and said it's standard for those on the East Coast.footsie wrote:great --thank you for the info! I'm Mtn West region and she told me $400 as well. I believe last year it was a flat $400 for those not within driving distance.hopeful16 wrote:She told me the same number on the phone and said it's standard for those on the East Coast.footsie wrote:great --thank you for the info!
