Has anyone gotten the call from Dean Ingram notifying you of acceptance but had their online status remain under review? I'm living out of the country for the year so I just put my home phone as the contact number and apparently she left a voicemail that my Dad emailed me about, but I'm not seeing anything online.

Point is retake and get the highest score you can to put yourself in the best possible position.
What kinds of jobs are available to UT grads but not HYS grads?

There are a lot of elite litigation boutiques in Texas that pay about $180k - $200k for first year associates and hire about as many people from UT as they do from HYS combined.BigZuck wrote:nonprofit-prophet wrote:Depends on your career goals. Also, any biglaw gig in Texas is going to be a much better experience. The big shops all pay $160k for first year associates, but when you compare cost of living, that's about $325k in NYC not to mention that in NYC, you would be billing around 2500 hours but in Texas you would be billing about 2100 hours (depending on which shop you go to.)

I think this is kind of misleading. IIRC, you turned down HLS as a transfer, which is different than turning it down as a 0L. At that point, you already knew you were at the tip-top of the class at UT. It may be true that for a very small number of firms (Susman, Bickel and Brewer come to mind), it is better to be at the very top of the class at UT than a mediocre or above-average student at HLS, but 0Ls have no way of knowing if they will be at the top of the class at UT. I don't think the marginal advantage that UT has over other schools with regards to like 3 or 4 firms is a good reason for taking UT over HYS when, in general, job prospects out of those three are SIGNIFICANTLY better than out of UTnonprofit-prophet wrote:Depends on your career goals. No if you go to their homepage there is a check status buttons similar to any other school. If they have sent you their ID already then you login there. If you have not gotten it there is a trick of just clicking the forgot my ID and answering some questions to retrieve it. This can turn out two diffrent ways: some people can log on and see that their app is submitted and ready but on the other hand it could say error that they have received your application but have not finished uploading the components (which is what mine says).read2465 wrote:Where are you able to see the status of applications? Oh my gosh, got the call this evening! So so excited about the possibility of UT law. Great reputation, great city. For those wondering, I applied the first weekend of October and my status had been sitting at complete since oct 8.
Good luck to all still waiting!

So on 11-6 I got the email saying my application was received, but then nothing else, no status checker or anything. I sent all of my apps in around the same time and am complete everywhere but here. has this happened to anyone else? I'm getting a little antsy that its taking them so long !
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
