Short answer: YES. A lot of people UVA takes from the waitlist are not near the 'bottom' of the class that they put together in terms of GPA/ LSAT

Just received an email from Director Jason Dugas where he asked for a convenient time to call (probably I am in Asia time.) Really hope he will bring me good news. But before that, is there anyone who knows what kinds of questions, if any, will he ask? except Why UVA. I tried to read earlier posts, but 60+ pages are way too many...Thanks a lot ^_^

I got the same thing (I am in the South Pacific). It was a very quick phone call, no questions. Essentially: "You are in. More info is in the mail. Feel free to ask me questions after you get the mail." I prepared a Why UVA/Why Law for the phone call, but did not need it.

That's where I sent it. I emailed my Why UVA around 3pm or so and received confirmation the next morning.

Stats are on LSN but I haven't heard anything been UR for maybe ~15-20 days which I know isn't a lot but still :/ I did a Why UVA and have a good friend who's a 1L that I mentioned as encouraging me to apply on the application and addendum.

Hey guys.

Some of you may have seen some stats-based stuff I have been posting in other forums. I have been working a lot on it, trying to kill time while application decisions trickle in. Most of the stuff I did over the last couple days was based on the last cycle, or the last two cycles. I've started to put together individual school analysis based on ALL the available data on LSN now, so I'll post them to the corresponding school's threads. This would probably have been more useful/interesting for people a few months ago, but what the heck.



This table is based on logistical regression analysis of data from Law School Numbers. It includes all accepted and rejected applicants from the 2003/4 cycle up until the present (2012/2013) cycle. It does not include waitlisted applicants (unless they indicated that they had been ultimately accepted or rejected). Please keep in mind the nature of the data when interpreting these results.

Also, keep in mind that this analysis is based only on the outcomes for the indicated school’s applicant pool compared to each other, and does not necessarily mean that “numbers aren’t important” to any particular school.

Eventually, once I've slogged through everything, I'll compile lists and, where they'd be helpful, charts comparing data across schools. I'm no stats expert, but I picked up some stuff in grad school, and I enjoy it.

Waitlisted by email today. 3.57 170 and no 'Why UVA' so I'm disappointed but not shocked. I'm very very glad I was not outright rejected because this is the first T14 school I have heard from and a rejection would have made me feel completely hopeless about my chances at the rest.

I think you are overqualified.... I suggest you should send them an email, presenting somehow strong interest and they will very likely expedite the review on your file. I won't be surprised if you end up with some better offers, but if you really want to grab UVA's offer first, just show them how UVA blew your heart....
