Oh no I meant that Boalt hasn't offered me anything. I guess I could recapitulate my matching scholarship application... I'm saying there would be more to talk about if they made a fin aid decision. Then I could talk to someone re what my expenses will actually look like.jbagelboy wrote:lolwut? UVA? Michigan? I received my no offer to the matching scholly like 1 day after I emailed them I wasn't going to be able to attend ASW so that must be it

Did they just say, No? Did they give a reason. I like Berk a lot, but where is all the money?sinfiery wrote:I received my no offer to the matching scholly like 1 day after I emailed them I wasn't going to be able to attend ASW so that must be it

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
They actually answered that question
After careful consideration of your Matching Scholarship application by the Scholarship Committee, it has been determined that we are not able to offer you a Matching Scholarship. The Committee was very impressed with your accomplishments and aptitude for legal study. We simply have an incredible number of applicants to the program this year and very limited scholarship funding is available.
At Berkeley Law we choose to invest a great deal in need-based grants, summer funding for public interest work, and the Loan Repayment Assistance Program - so while we realize that earning your J.D. at Berkeley Law can be expensive, it also affords you a broad array of opportunities including substantial help in managing your post-graduation debt.
I'm sorry to deliver disappointing news. Feel free to ask me any other questions that you might have about attending (and funding) law school at U.C. Berkeley.

Opened myFinAid and see a 2013-2014 "Gift Aid" that nearly matches my matching request. But I have not received any communication on matching scholarship. So is this something else that is different from matching?

Wow. Thats intense. Im not sure how to respond to that. I guess if they really hand out tons of need based, that makes sense, but if not, that just is rough all around.sinfiery wrote:They actually answered that questionAfter careful consideration of your Matching Scholarship application by the Scholarship Committee, it has been determined that we are not able to offer you a Matching Scholarship. Given the state of the UC system currently, this is what it is gonna look like:jbagelboy wrote: yea they haven't gotten back to me either. i'm hoping for us, they just see if we show up, and then hand us the matching scholly offers in person at ASW.

from what others have seen, this is really just need based, but that was a couple weeks ago. congrats! in some cases, it even stacks with your matching. then again, if you demonstrated very little financial need, it could be the matching, but I think in the past people have been emailed about thatonix wrote:Opened myFinAid and see a 2013-2014 "Gift Aid" that nearly matches my matching request. My only real career goal is to work for Google so I should take Berk but I'm a stupid kid and will have to go into biglaw for debt regardless. So screw it, I'm gonna enjoy 3 years in NYCmatrim wrote:So sinfiery is it down to NYU (pending SLS) or are you still thinking Berk at all?

It might be the matching scholarship. My only shows my scholarship, but my need based aid hasn't been processed yet.jbagelboy wrote:from what others have seen, this is really just need based, but that was a couple weeks ago. congrats! in some cases, it even stacks with your matching. then again, if you demonstrated very little financial need, it could be the matching, but I think in the past people have been emailed about thatonix wrote:Opened myFinAid and see a 2013-2014 "Gift Aid" that nearly matches my matching request. Hit the tab "award details". It'll tell you if it's a matching scholarship or not.

yeah... I don't want to induce panic though. Just look at the award details on the finaid page. It'll let you know if it's need based or a matching scholarship.jbagelboy wrote:hmm. but you were notified by email when they decided on the matching as well right ssanonymous?ssanonymous wrote:It might be the matching scholarship. Looked at the Award Details and it says "Grant - Law" under category "Other Gift Aid". Does it specifically say matching in yours?ssanonymous wrote:yeah... I don't want to induce panic though.
