Got accepted with the 25k scholarship with a 3.4/160. Then I retook the LSAT and got a 163. I e-mailed the dean and he said he would review my scholarship and get back to me by tomorrow (friday). Hopefully i hear some good news!

Same situation here. We have the same lsat score and my gpa is a tad lower. Hopefully in with $$$$?Dash41 wrote:I applied January 10th. My application was complete January 11th. Decision rendered January 12th. Why can't all law schools be so quick.
But I have no idea what to make of them sending out a decision 1 day later. Has anyone even heard of that?
I wish all schools could be like this!

I hope so. Does anyone know what the stipulations are like on their scholarships? That could play a huge role.martorem wrote:Same situation here. I was offered 30k per year with the stipulation that I stay in the top third of my class.Dash41 wrote:I hope so. Does anyone know what the stipulations are like on their scholarships? Haha, also hilarious, I applied on Tuesday and already have a decision rendered...and this morning I woke up to an email sent at 6:42am from Pacific telling me to apply before the priority deadline...ridiculous, also who is up at 3:42 in the morning over there sending out emails?

Came home to acceptance packet with full tuition scholarship plus books. Definitely hard to turn down, but it's not my top choice. Going to do some thinking and evaluating and may withdraw to allow others a chance for a spot plus some serious money! Good luck to everyone else!!!!

Congrats. I also came home to a full tuition scholarship plus books. Have to stay in the top 1/3 of the class. First acceptance of the cycle and I was very happy with it.martorem wrote:Came home to acceptance packet with full tuition scholarship plus books. I'm considering going to legal scholars day, but my schedule is busy and the only one I think I'd be able to attend would be the one on February 3rd, That feels too close to really schedule something. I'm going to have to think about it.
If it mailed 1/11, it has to be there soon. I didn't get my decision until 1/12, so I'm guessing mine was mailed then or the day after. Good luck!

yeah that's in two weeks from Friday - seems super quick! Yeah I think it should be here today hopefully - do you live in CA or did yours travel across the country?Dash41 wrote:I'm considering going to legal scholars day, but my schedule is busy and the only one I think I'd be able to attend would be the one on February 3rd, That feels too close to really schedule something. I'm pretty sure I'll be attending the Feb. 3rd legal scholars day...can't turn down a free flight to Cali from the northeast on top of having a legit reason to miss class. Anyone else?

I really want to. I see they don't provide hotel though, which I'd definitely need if I was going to visit.LAFish wrote:I'm pretty sure I'll be attending the Feb. 3rd legal scholars day...can't turn down a free flight to Cali from the northeast on top of having a legit reason to miss class. Re: Pacific-McGeorge c/o 2015 (2011-12 cycle)
First of all, congrats on everyone's acceptances. I am a transferee out of McGeorge, and saw there were a a few questions about schollies and the top 1/3 stipulation. Please think very clearly about what that means. At first blush, top 1/3 sounds very doable. You plan to work hard, you know the game, you will do well.
The reality is so does everyone else. You are not a special snowflake. Moreover, McGeorge gives way more schollies than just 1/3 of the class. I remember reading that it was more in the 70% of the class range has some form of scholarship. This number equates to a lot of "losers." Also something to note, 1/3 is a hard line. top 34% means scholarship gone and it will not be coming back. I had a friend who landed in that percentile, it is tough to know you lost it by a few MC on one exam.... Also know people who came in with full rides who had numbers that were competitive for going to Boalt, who in the end lost their scholarship. Not because they did not work, but rather because the exam format did not lend itself to how they thought. My advice to an entering class, do not attend because they gave you money. Again, You are not unique.
Now for the positive. I felt the classes I took as a 1L were good. The education provided is comparable to other schools (and better in many regards). I liked the profs and felt it was easy to engage them. If you want to work in Sac, not going there because of the scholarship money and do not have plans of getting into big law or other prestigious legal jobs. McGeorge is a great school.
Feel free to PM if you have specific questions. Thanks

Ya, I am not a fan of the 1/3 stip so I talked to admissions and was able to be switched to the Public Interest since I have a strong PI background and will be doing PI when I'm done. I will definitely be attending unless I decided to not to law school at all. I am very excited

I just got my acceptance packet today too. Congrats to everyone who is already in!! I was wondering, did anyone who did not apply for the Legal Scholars Honors Program be selected for it anyways? I didn't apply for it but was selected anyways, which I'm not sad about. Free books, 10k scholly, priority on campus housing, and flight out to visit. From Socal.
Also, has anyone negotiated with UOP yet? If so, please describe your experience a bit. Thank you!!

How long did it take for you to receive your decision in the mail from when your status changed to "decision rendered"??

mine said decision rendered 1/11 and then decision letter sent 1/13. I think mine got delayed because of MLK day..but I checked the mail last night and it was there. (It could have been there Tuesday but I didn't check).bluebelle01 wrote:How long did it take for you to receive your decision in the mail from when your status changed to "decision rendered"??

Thank you ashleyrenee! Mine says decision rendered on 1/12, but still nothing in the mail. The status checker doesn't say that anything was mailed... hmmm?
