How much would temple have to offer to make attending worthwhile?

Enough to make it less expensive than other places?soitgoes9 wrote:How much would temple have to offer to make attending worthwhile?

May try to negotiate it up, would really like to stay in the PA/NJ/NY area, though I'd probably need at least double that to make it a possibility.. Hopefully Penn comes through and makes it irrelevant.InGoodFaith wrote:+1, OOS. Planning on withdrawingCornelius wrote:Got my packet. $7,500/year.

Would love to get 7.5k a year. Going to negotiate once more decisions come in. If I could get 7.5k or higher it would put all decision making to rest. (PA resident).

Yeah being a resident makes a huge difference. The $13,000 difference between in and out of state is what makes $7.5k not enough for me.BTWalk wrote:Would love to get 7.5k a year. Re: Temple 2011-2012 Cycle
Temple is definitely stingy again this cycle. Seems that last year did mark a clear break from their past patterns. 2009-10 and earlier had many more sizeable awards. I wonder if this is a calculated change of strategy or budget crunch (could be small sample size too I suppose).Cornelius wrote:Yeah being a resident makes a huge difference. I would guess budget. The state related schools took a bit hit this past year. I can't see any plan that would work where giving less money would help them.

I got my acceptance packet in the mail a little while ago but I was offered the Beasley Scholarship for $30,000 a year as long as I stay in the top half. 166/3.2/URM

Congratulations! This just made me go back and look at my award letter to make sure I saw the right thing. So there are different Beasley Scholarships? Mine indicates being worth $90,000 over the three years.SarahT wrote:Got my letter today. Beasley Scholar 60k maintain the top half of the class.
I am beyond honored.

Yeah, it's just the generic term for their scholarships. It varies based on your stats and whether you're in state or out.cch24 wrote:Congratulations! Thanks! I freaked out a little thinking I misread something. Whenever I get these letter my eyes usually fly to the money, as that will be a huge deciding factor for me.Nelson wrote:Yeah, it's just the generic term for their scholarships. Re: Temple 2011-2012 Cycle
Temple is probably my top school at the moment due to its rank and price. Accepted at Penn State (10k/yr); Drexel (30k/yr); Villanova (20k/yr); Pitt (Awaiting admittance packet in snail mail). I received no money from Temple, but again, I'm in state so tuition is already low. 161/3.44 non-URM. Any tips on how I should negotiate from scholarship? Like I said before, I'm looking for like 7.5/10k a year. Also, Villanova and obviously Drexel are cheaper at the moment.

in state as well 3.6/166 and only got 4k a year it seems that with budget cuts Temple has gotten stingier i have a full ride at Villanova so really could not justify paying much for Temple

I went complete on 11/14 and receive a decision on 1/13, if that helps. Also, how long has it taken the acceptance packets to arrive to people? I am headed out of town today for 2 weeks and hoping I get my packet before I leave...

Yeah, they're the exact same school except one is in the city.srfngdd6 wrote:novamelk724 wrote:Temple V Nova....Nova would be full ride..Temple I got 3,750 a year( not sure how they came up with that number hah)...help!

Re: Temple 2011-2012 Cycle
I'm in the exact same boat. I'm a Temple undergrad now and I'm going with Nova. If the two had been the same I would have stayed with Temple just because I like being in the city (although not north Philly where Temple is located). Otherwise, I think it's best to go with what's cheapest because the two are identical in nearly every other way.melk724 wrote:Temple V Nova....Nova would be full ride..Temple I got 3,750 a year( not sure how they came up with that number hah)...help!
