I put down a deposit for BU (even though I am hoping to get off of one of my WLs), but employment data will likely determine whether I actually go to BU next fall or reapply if I don't get off of a WL... it's hard for me to justify paying sticker for a school that is struggling with employing grads, and the mix of the current employment info they have on their site + the ranking drop makes me worry.
seems like a lot of people from the class of 2010 were employed by BU, didn't report salaries, had deferred starting dates, etc.. and I am SURE that more than 57% of the class of 2010 wanted a private sector law firm job.... I know that the whole market is struggling (or especially was in 2010) and that rankings aren't everything, but I can't see a drop in rankings coinciding with an improvement in employment prospects.. maybe I'm being ignorant and judgmental about BU, but the whole thing sketches me out a bit since it is such an expensive/high stakes decision

From Southern California and attending BU, with dreams of returning to SoCal. This is going to be interesting. My calculation is that living in Boston with $45k guaranteed>going to Loyola LA with $90k (stipulations), and NO money from UCH, UCD.
Waitlisted at USC though...dk if i can turn that down if it works out. Until then, BU it is! excited.

Wow, we're like twins. Hail from SoCal as well and I put my deposit down at BU with the same award (also waitlisted at USC). Hastings and Davis offered me much more substantial scholarships than did BU though.bingbang1025 wrote:From Southern California and attending BU, with dreams of returning to SoCal. Does anybody remember what format our credentials came for the admitted students website? I got in quite a while ago and I can't find them anywhere and there's no link to reset your user/password combination.

Re: Boston University c/o 2015 Applicants
Received an email telling me to turn in my first deposit before May 4th.
Which I could do, if I have actually received my acceptance/scholarship information. Annoying.

It's on most of the emails they send out to admitted students.uncjtd20 wrote:Does anybody remember what format our credentials came for the admitted students website? I got in quite a while ago and I can't find them anywhere and there's no link to reset your user/password combination.

Got the package in mail today.
No scholarship information. I'm guessing that means no offer. Sent an email to negotiate, but assuming the worst.

same here, and the offer was better than i anticipated... $20K/year over 3 years, no requirements/stipulations.
likely withdrawing though... already (obvi) deposited at other schools, and gotta say, the waiting/lack of correspondence from BU was a major turn-off. maybe that's ungrateful and inappropriate of me, but shoot, that's what anonymous message boards are for.
good luck!

Well, problem being that I've only just received the package on April 30, and their proposed deadline for my first deposit is May 4.StarLightSpectre wrote:

Good news being that they've replied to my email and asked me to send in my award letters. Here's hoping.

Well. Offered 10k a year for three year.
I just can't justify the $150k + debt from BU. Will attempt to communicate my situation again, but I doubt if it will do any good.

Accepted off the waitlist with a $22,000/year scholarship. They replied very quickly to me with my aid information when I mentioned the scholarship that a similarly-ranked school was offering me.
I might be withdrawing, as this other school gave me a better offer, and I'm on a multitude of other waitlists.
Best of luck to those still anxiously waiting!

Is anyone on here who has applied but just hasn't heard anything yet? All the other schools I applied to at the same time have given me decisions by now except BU. My status checker has only updated once.....

Now they finally accept me off the waitlist with 25k a year.
I'll probably be withdrawing. Maybe one of you fine folks will get my spot and them duckets. Good luck.

Do any of yal know if BU has an intramural sports program that grad students can participate in? One of my favorite parts of undergrad and hoping I don't have to give up IM glory.

+1
Also, how long did it take to be notified of any scholarship awards?

For those of you accepted off the waitlist (congrats!), can you share a little bit about the steps you took since being waitlisted? (ie: how often did you send LOCIs, call the office, send additional materials, etc). Thanks so much!

If anyone is interested in a wicked nice apartment not far from the school for a very low price (I know it sounds too good to be true, but it isn't!), please message me!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
