In with 6k/year... Quite a bit less than anticipated. Has anyone had any success negotiating?

haven't tried negotiating yet. I'm hoping to introduce myself to the dean and such on Preview day then attempt to negotiate.

I'm not going to bother with preview day if I can't make some significant headway. :(

Already going to IU-Bloomington/GW/W&M/W&L this month! Way too much going on.

I got shot down. A scholarship 2X the amount they offered at USD, 4X the amount at USF, and an acceptance at Hastings wasn't enough to get them to budge. Good luck with your negotiation, let us all know how it goes.

ohh well if you got in to those schools that's probably why they offered you 6k/year.

Hey sorry not following- Are you thinking they're doing a form of YP or are you assuming they're just not overly interested?

Well that's fixable- I'll get a letter sent in today explaining further interest.

Thanks much!

My app has been in committee since 2/2! The excitement is definitely waning at this point, haha.

I've been in committee since 1/19. Schools I applied to in late Feb. have already gotten back to me. Excitement waning to say the least. Also, they really have to stop sending me emails that look like decisions and are just e-news updates. Hopefully they are taking so much time to contemplate how they are going to give me lots of money, because that's the only way I'm going here, considering the packages I've gotten elsewhere.

Agreed, they keep sending updates, but won't just give me a decision. It's a little ridiculous at this point when I've received 5 newsletters attempting to convince me Santa Clara is a great school, but there is no communication about my actual application.

Can anyone give a little insight?

Has anyone who has been rejected from Santa Clara also receive the e-newsletters they keep emailing out?

Finally got an email back, but not the best response. They said that I can submit for a scholarship increase, however cannot do so till after the seat deposit deadline.... Not quite sure why an 84th ranked school is so much more difficult to work with than many of the T30's, but that's how it goes! :D

where are you guys finding out that your application is "in committee"? How generous have they been with scholarships? I got accepted into University of San Diego and have received a pretty generous scholarship, but would much prefer to go to Santa Clara. Hoping they give me something comparable...
